Rep. David Valado is the third House Republican in four days to sign on to co-sponsor a Democratic comprehensive immigration bill.
While the House isnt likely to take up that measure, Republicans signaling support for such legislation could pressure leadership to address the issue.
On Wednesday, the California Republican became the latest GOP lawmaker to co-sponsor the Democrats bill, which is similar to a bipartisan measure creating a pathway to citizenship that passed the Senate earlier this year. Republican Jeff Denham of California was the first to attach his name to the bill sponsored by Florida Democrat Joe Garcia. On Tuesday, Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, R-Fla., said she would back the legislation.
While Speaker John A. Boehner, R-Ohio, has privately and publicly committed to moving immigration legislation in a piecemeal fashion only, Republicans showing support for a Democratic bill could pressure GOP leaders to do more than the border security bill sponsored by Homeland Security Committee Chairman Michael McCaul, R-Texas.
Right now, however, it seems Boehner faces more pressure from the right to not bring up a comprehensive immigration bill than he does to address a pathway to citizenship. That could change if more Republicans sign on to the Garcia bill.

Another article on Drudge this morning points to McAuliffe’s rise in VA as a result of a massive influx of immigrants.
These Republicans are committing suicide. Coupled with a WSJ poll I saw this morning, the media’s definitely trying to push the idea that Republicans are in a death spiral from which they’ll never recover.
I’m praying for divine intervention at this point.
All three are in districts with lots of Hispanics, CA and FL.
Will they change the name from USA to HSA (Hispanic States of America)?
Not one of those Mexicans in their districts will vote for them.
Pray America will wake up
No more immigration.
Bring back United States jobs first.
Fer crying out loud.
If I were the Speaker of the House(SOTH), I would tell those three jerk faces flat out - join the democratic party or STHU.
Seems to me there’s been a “pathway to citizenship” for many, many years. It was good enough for my ancestors, why isn’t it good enough now?
"These Republicans" are the RINOs who like the stimulus checks coming, as they keep interest rates low, artificially prop up the stock market, and enrich their buddies. This works for them two ways. First, it's the cheap labor. Besides that it keeps the unemployment numbers high, which is the excuse the feds are using to continue the stimulus.
Its not suicide. The GOPe are set for life no matter what happens the rest of us, like the high and mighty elites of any Third-world pit that have their lavish lifestyle provided for by starving peasants. They are co conspirators in the first degree premeditated murder of American civilization.
“These Republicans are committing suicide. “
Once you reach a certain level in politics you’ll get your golden parachute no matter whether you’re reelected or not. I’ve seen this in corporations where managers run the company into bankruptcy , retire and live happily ever after even though everybody else loses their retirement. Same thing, different level.
“Seems to me theres been a pathway to citizenship for many, many years. It was good enough for my ancestors, why isnt it good enough now?”
Because today’s alien felons are not Ellis Island immigrant material - not by a long shot. They are a different breed.
Let’s just say they’re ‘New World Order’ friendly.
“Not one of those Mexicans in their districts will vote for them.”
They know this.....and they don’t care. They have their orders.
