ld never set down until the lady was seated. Tell me what’s wrong with that.

There are almost no ladies around these days.

Grace Kelly looked classy in everything she wore.

That’s funny...I always say “thanks!”

Living alone for so long has its drawbacks, though. I often forget for the doors to be opened and the chairs to be pulled out.

*sigh*

I DID know how to do all that, once upon a time.

Which is why I ALWAYS dress up nicely for church...no jeans, no sleeveless tops, no sneaks.

Modest skirts, dresses, jewelry and heels.

All out of respect for the House of the Lord. You never know when He will show up!

I dress up to go to Walmart ... just not in heels.

Anyone who didn’t stand up for Maureen O’Hara would probably lose a limb! My youngest daughter is named “Kathleen” for her character in “Rio Grande.”

15 years or so ago I was leaving a DC subway station as a middle aged lady, with both arms full of stuff, was trying to push the door open to enter. Nobody else seemed to notice her plight so I held the door for her. Her only response was: you must have been raised in Indiana.

I was, so I took it as a compliment.

Rape, riot, massacres, child abuse, and animal cruelty may have flourished in previous ages ... and now, too. Maybe not as much animal cruelty, in the U.S., and we've been spared massacres for a few generations ...

If people aren't constrained by behavioral conventioned, and they aren't constrained by morality, then there's no constraint other then brute force.

This really isn’t the thread to argue it but when one strata of society has all the power with no laws to rein them in you are going to have massive abuses of force no matter what the era or conventional standards.

I think I agree. Maybe the topic will come up on some other thread, and then we could usefully discuss it, other things being equal.

“Grace Kelly looked classy in everything she wore.”

This is true, she could have worn a potatoe sack and looked like a million bucks. (See I spell potatoe like Dan Quayle!)

Re: Grace Kelly would be so proud....

Ward, you can be as hard as you want on... the beaver tonight, 'cause in 60 some odd years, it will be greatly admired!

Well, any time I can be hard on the beaver... well, it just makes my day--

Hey, June was a hottie in the 1950s, so I cannot blame you, Ward... but that is my line!

Stow it, Rowdy! In the 1950s... Roy was the sexy cowboy!

Yeah... I was!

Yeah, he... WAS!

Ugh, Dale, you not say that when you spend night in tent with me... and Kemo Sabe!

Looking like a girl and acting like a lady never goes out of fashion.

At least it doesn't among coherent, sane and thoughtul people   ;-)
