Hackers appeared to compromise a tool used by President Obama's social media accounts Monday.
As a result, links posted on the Twitter account and Facebook page for Obama's political organization, Organizing for America, redirected users to a propaganda video about the Syrian war.
Nu Wexler, a spokesman for Twitter, emphasized that the hackers had not gained access to Obama's Twitter account. Instead, they had hacked the organization's link shortener, which enabled them to redirect users.
The Organizing for America Twitter account, @BarackObama, is one of the most popular accounts on the service, with more than 38 million followers.
The Syrian Electronic Army, a group of hackers affiliated with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, claimed credit for the attack.
“a tool used by President Obama” - Quick! Someone call Margaret Mead!
I suppose I should think that this is all very troubling and ominous....I don’t.
I find it all very humorous. Now, if only Putin would somehow get someone to wet all of the toilet paper within the White House, it would be a near perfect day.
About time some hackers attack Barry Obama and his freaking BS
LOL
Probably should change the password to something other than “BUSHSFAULT”.
Suddenly there are stories about hacking. This is the second today that I’ve seen.
Trial balloon for blaming hackers for zerocare rollout disaster? Tea Party hackers, maybe?
Tea Hackers! Yeah, that’s it! Tea Hackers lead by George Bush!
