A statue of the late prime minister will be added to the Capitol collection after President Obama removed a similar artwork from the Oval Office, opting for Martin Luther King Jr. instead.
"Never, never, never give up."
Republicans in Congress are taking Winston Churchill's words to heart.
A bust of the late prime minister will be added to the Capitol collection in the National Statuary Hall, after President Obama chucked the bust that had been loaned to the U.S. from the British.
The artwork has become a political hot potato, with Republicans slamming the President for offending America's ally by opting not to display Churchill in the Oval Office. When he moved into the White House in January 2009, the President chose a bust of Martin Luther King Jr.
The British Government has tried to downplay the controversy, with the British Embassy insisting in 2011 that the original piece by Sir Jacob Epstein was in fact only lent to the U.S. "in the wake of 9/11 as a signal of the strong transatlantic relationship."
Mitt Romney even vowed to return Churchill's likeness to the White House, during the 2012 presidential election, as a show of respect for the World War II ally.

Roger Daltrey to Perform at Washington, D.C., Event Celebrating Winston Churchill
At least it wasn’t Frederick Douglass. But skippy probably never heard of him.
i bet you are right... he probably never has heard of him... and if he has, he would not acknowledge him...
He wanted George Washington Carver for inventing the peanut, but Sasquatch wanted MLK.
Ole Bammy didn’t move Churchill out. He rotated him into storage and rotated out in HIS favorite WW 2 Ally and political mentor, Joseph Stalin.
Now bambam sits and rotates and drools over his hero’s bust.
The next Republican president should offer the MLK bust to the family of MLK. They couldn’t refuse, and it will be gone. Then put Winston Churchill back. Along with one for Meg Thatcher.
This will be a big part of the presidential apology to Britain for Obama’s repeated insults to their government and their queen. Because of his crappy and offensive gifts, and crude behavior, the Republican president should make up for them with expensive, handcrafted unique masterpieces, which used to be the polite thing to do between our leaders.
Heaven knows they have given our past presidents some wonderful and heartfelt artifacts. It is quite an art form that bridges the gap between our nations, with gifts that hold deep meaning for both.
I am surprised it was not Patrice Lumumba or Jomo Kenyatta
