In Spanish, happiness is more clearly associated with economic prosperity as the word infeliz (unhappy, literally) means "poor" in common usage.
Since Spanish is a more archaic, less modern language than English, it turns out the meaning of the word is nearer to what the Founders intended in the Declaration by "pursuit of happiness."

In other words, "happiness" is not a feeling or emotion but a more substantial condition: wealth.
