Alinsky Lessons for Republicans
PJ Media ^ | 10-24-13 | Roger L. Simon

The big teaching moment for Republicans, conservatives and libertarians — that time you can finally whisper new ideas quietly in the ears of your liberal and progressive friends and relations — is here.

And it’s not just because Obamacare is an unbelievable fiasco that even has them stuttering on CBS and ABC. Everything is going haywire for the president. Absolutely everything.

Obama is even having to field calls from German chancellor Angela Merkel, irate that we were tapping her mobile phone. Now she and the first lady of Brazil are going to the UN over this, humiliating our country, which was just humiliated last week at the UN by, of all places, Saudi Arabia.

My guess is that Obama, as we now know one of the world’s most famously absentee executives, barely paid attention to what the NSA was doing, but no matter what the true story, the idea of our pompous chief executive trying to explain himself to Merkel borders on the hilarious, if it wasn’t repellent and tragic.

But what, in the midst of this, can we all do actually to change things?

How can the UN humiliate the US?

If Bush had presided over a fiasco like the ACA, if Bush claimed to have been out of the loop concerning the ACA’s problems, if Bush were getting phone calls from foreign heads of state complaining about NSA snooping, if Bush had used the IRS to target political opponents through investigative harassment and by selectively leaking private tax returns, the country would probably be in full-blown impeachment mode now, led by the MSM. So, even though “the government” is getting some media flak for the problems, Obama is apparently largely exempt from personal criticism.

Roger's suggestions sound more like anti-Alinsky lessons. Being low-key, quiet and not name-calling/pointing out the obvious 0 #trainwrecks is not picking your target, freezing and ridiculing it. Maybe it's satire?

Regardless, we've seen proven that anything said about 0's failures/lies, etc gets us no where. He's still plodding along with his plan, undeterred.

Roger apparently does not fully grasp the delusional nature of progressive “thought” (pardon me while I lower my IQ by fifty points and become dominated by uncontrolled emotions, just like a typical liberal):

Clearly both Angela Merkel and the first lady of Brazil are racists.

Why can’t you Conservatives and Libertarians just move on, anyway? Why do you hate people of color, children, and the elderly?

What’s needed is for the Conservative braintrust to sit down and come up with a counterpart for Rules for Radicals. Take it and the Art of War and combine the two and call it Combat for Conservatives.

Outstanding suggestion. I like it. Combat for Conservatives. I’m going to suggest it to some of our Republican leaders at Oktoberfest tomorrow night.

The author fails to understand Alinisky and the success this administration has had using his tactics.
He seems to think this a pillow fight when the rules are MMA kickboxing.

The REAL lesson for republicans is to respond to Obama’s MMA kickboxing, with no-rules Krav Maga, because that is how the left now approaches politics.

And the real objective is NOT to try to convert the kickboxing leftist, but everyone else in the room who is undecided, who crave direction and conviction, and want their moral campus tugged in the correct direction.

Trying to rally the middle has lost us two elections. Time to rally the conservative base.

I think Ted Cruz (despite his recent poor press) understands this. That’s why I like the suggestion by a prior poster for developing a program called Combat for Conservatives.

On another topic, I know politics takes money, but I am thoroughly tired of being asked ALL THE TIME for cash. I should keep count of the number of (bogus, I think) surveys and petitions I get from various political entities that plead for a donation before they will be tabulated. Then there are the phone calls, 6-10 per day. I’ve learned to recognize the area codes and I just don’t answer.

Now that I’ve learned that our representives have to BUY their committee assignments from their Parties and that some of them loan money to their campaigns and then charge 18% interest, I don’t even want to donate directly to them any more.

That’s exactly the kind of response I get with my progressive “friends”, who will leave the room when I’m making too much sense and say, “I’m leaving now, there’s too much hate in here” or some crap like that.

... the idea of our pompous chief executive trying to explain himself to Merkel borders on the hilarious, if it wasn’t repellent and tragic.

Nevertheless, that conversation is deserving of an old-school SNL send-up skit (from back when SNL was funny).

Gilda Radner as Merkel and Garrett Morris as Obama?

If only time machines were real...
