Mark Levin spoke out against The Washington Posts George Will on Monday, saying the call for Tea Party congressmen to compromise is nothing more than a way to rationalize soft tyranny.
Levin's comment references French philosopher Alexis de Tocquevilles idea of soft tyranny. This is a sort of tyranny in which the government does not shatter men's wills but "softens, bends, and guides" them. A people under a soft tyranny run the risk of becoming nothing more than "a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd."
Levin continued,
The individual is under attack. Private property rights are under attack. Capitalism generally is under attack. The Constitution is under attack, whats left of it. These institutions are out of control in Washington. The fiscal situation the federal fiscal situation is a complete and utter disaster and whats going on is unconscionable. The monetary system is out of control trying to fund the fiscal system. We have politicians who are demanding more power. We have politicians who are demanding to spend more.
Levin is right. Washington will not reform itself; Washington will not decrease the debt; Washington will not let up.

I’m sorry, but “soft tyranny” 1) means absolutely nothing to the overwhelming majority of the American, and 2) for those who do pay attention, it is NOT a strong enough description for what is transpiring.

He’s crating a framework for us - to see what’s happening. It’s important.
Yes, I understand that... with the overwhelming majority of the American public either Demonic Party parasites or apathetic nimrods more concerned about missing the next episode of TMZ, that “framework” needs a more forceful description - how about “government enslavement”?
LOL - Government enslavement” works for me but it might be a hard sell with the general population...
It’s already starting... how do you think the ignorant masses are going to react when they realize that FascistCare requires that they spend 100-200% more for “medical insurance”, with deductables of upwards of $5,000-15,000 that are only intended to be used as a means of transferring their wealth/earnings to the parasitic class? If they have no power to stop it, how is it any different than being enslaved?
The war against the middle class is much more sinister than simply stealing the fruit of their labor...Obama's attempting to turn America into Dufar.
