No, protections and exemptions have a much lower bar. They’re easier for us to secure than an Amendment to the Constitution, which by its nature is extremely difficult to pass.

If you think it’s even remotely possible, then cards on the table. Even if every state which currently prohibits gay marriage voted to ratify such an Amendment - I doubt Minnesota would, given their vote last year, but just suppose - we would need two states that currently allow it to flip. And in a couple weeks, with Hawaii, we might need three.

Cards on the table - which of the gay marriage states could realistically be our two or three? And what hard data, polling numbers etc, do you base that on?

I don’t see it. All evidence suggests that our opportunity was lost years ago. Better, again, that we salvage what wins we can.
