(CNN) -- Some people were shot Monday at Sparks Middle School outside Reno, Nevada, police said.
Commander Rocky Triplett of the Sparks Police Department said it was unclear how many people were shot.

The cops and the school are NOT going to release the shooter’s name. This is very unusual. I suspect his parents are employed by the school district or the police department.

It is indeed unusual. In every case, the shooter is always identified almost immediately. What’s preventing the students from posting it anywhere online? Some sort of gag order? There’s certainly more to this than meets the eye.

Shooter’s name is Jose Reyes, 12. ID’ed after Univision reported it. His grandma also put a memorial on her facebook page.
