Do these people see Obamacare as the cause of the problem?
if they were actually of Medicare age....65...would they still have to deduct more from their disability?...or is it just because they’re relative young?....I have relatives that are on disability but their older....wonder if it will affect them too....
Massive resistance. They can’t put us all in jail.
I have a lot of experience with families members along these lines. first i’ll say for most people who are on ss of any type, you cant get a much better deal than medicare, the basic payment being $96 per month. I have to say the two example you cite are most unusual and I think few ss/ssdi/ssi recipients do not choose traditional medicare.
I’m not sure what to make of your examples, whether its the government now forcing everyone into some kind of insurance (probably likely), or something else.
and sure, its probably all the result of obamacare, and I have a sneaking suspicion that everything in this country is about to be a result of obamcare.

It sounds like your wife is being penalized for not going on medicare when first eligible, which would have been 2 years after going on disability.
It happened to my step father, who is a disabled Korean War vet. He used the V.A. until he was 80 years old, then switched to medicare and his premium is $200, because he didn’t sign up for medicare when first becoming eligible. Normal medicare premiums are around $100.
Bill Ayres said his revolution may cost 25 million lives, this is how it is done. Sarah Palin told everyone about death panels and gov’t refusing to pay for care, it’s no conspiracy theory it is reality.

This kind of control of the masses is what the marxist want.
I may be the killjoy here, but half of the people now on disability are on it fraudulently and a majority of the remainder could do some kind of work.
E.g., can they type? Can they speak? If so, they can do customer service or clerical work from home, let alone if they can go in to an office to be a receptionist or whatever.
Providing people a full, comfortable, free living for life—or even over years to recover from injury—from “the government” is a massive moral hazard IMO. Those who are left in legitimate need can be covered by charity, where the checks work better.
Also, without such a guaranteed government safety net, many folks would cover themselves with private disability insurance, which is the only system by which people in their 20s through 40s have legitimately “paid into” to be covered should something tragic happen.
My mom’s been living off of $700 a month with her disability check. (She almost died seven years ago and hasn’t been the same since. Now she’s going blind with macular degeneration.)
She got her letter last week. They’re taking out $104 in Medicaid payments, plus they’ve changed her prescription coverage. Now, the only medicine they’ll cover is her potassium. NOTHING ELSE. She’s going to be out more than $100 for her medications.
She just lost 30% of all that she had. She hasn’t been using the EBT card (they won’t take it back), but now she won’t have a choice. (They were only giving her $35 a month, anyway.) I just got her a cellphone and I’ll pay for that with our family’s phones.
