The mormons around our area have non-mormon “target families” that they are charged to look after in the event of disaster or hardship.

How about asking other exmo’s. We don’t have a reason to lie. LDS do. They want you to think they will help, but reality is far different.
LDS Welfare is for LDS only, and they will also restrict help to non-active and non-worthy LDS members also. They only continue to help them as long as they attend services, give up their vices and so forth.
