I wonder if these folks’ cards will have a negative balance until enough months have passed to catch up to what they spent. There will be screaming, if so.

I believe it is up to the Seller to verify the amount of money available on the card at the time of purchase.
Walmart failed to do so and I suspect will be paying for the overages that they processed. JMO

My first thought, too.

Sometimes ATM’s go bonkers and disgorge cash.

But the electronic records are intact, and the transactions are all on video, so the bank just debits your account.

Only a question of time before Black legislators, many of them lawyers, line up to explain why people should be allowed to keep their ill gotten goods.
