I trust West’s research on this, so 20 years is outrageous for what is AT WORST a misidentification by a young lieutenant. And I don’t think it was a misidentification. The facts seem clear that those were enemy spotters.
Our courts have archives full of murderers — obvious murderers — given far less than 20 years.
And this was on a battlefield while on patrol. It’s ridiculous, obscene, a stain on the military’s honor.

There’s much wrong with the high ranks when our military leaders in the field are sentenced to prison for protecting their troops.
I can’t help but believe this had much to do with kowtowing to the corrupt Karsai, in fact the ones killed may have been related to him as well as being fighters for the Taliban.
I have no idea why we are even there if we are going to treat our military like this. Makes no sense.
