The Air Force just announced the firing of a 2-star general named Michael Carey. He was in command of the 20th Air Force, with 450 ICBMs under his control. His boss, Lt. Gen. James Kowalski, said, "It's unfortunate that I've had to relieve an officer who's had an otherwise distinctive career spanning 35 years of commendable service." The reason officially given was "conduct" and somebody leaked that it was alcohol abuse.
Perhaps that is the true and only reason, but something seems odd here. A quick internet search reveals Carey as a model officer who joined as an enlisted man and, through hard work and education, received a commission and rose to general rank, earning a long string of honors and awards.
A more detailed internet search found something strange -- just a few months ago, the famous RAND Corporation, think tank for the Air Force for 50 years, authored a study claiming that the officers who manned Carey's ICBM siloes were severely demoralized. They complained of "poor leadership" and "sagging morale," and wished for "leaders who will listen." According to an AP article at the time, this has "captured the attention of the service's leaders." And yet, the general was not fired for this.
In a telephone interview with the AP, Carey said that despite the various complaints, morale is "not bad," and that on a recent visit he'd found the missile crews "optimistic and upbeat." "They are not unhappy."
So which is it? Why are the missile crews not "unhappy" but complaining about "poor leadership"?

Continuing the General Grade Purge Parade?
Have they named his replacement yet? Will be interesting to see who they are and what.......
I believe there’s a list of officers that the administration feel confident that they can count on in an ‘emergency’. Everyone else will go, replaced by someone obama’s people feel they can trust.

There may be many more things in play here, from a purge by the 0bama regime to personal misconduct, but as a former missile crewmember I can speak from experience when I say that back in my day, the guys who man the capsules were "the scum of the earth" where the Air Force was concerned. Morale was always bad. Favoritism and politics made things worse. The commanders in missile wings were almost all pilots, with a few navigators, and not even qualified to pull alerts, knew very little about the weapons system and cared less about the crewmembers. The very first question I was asked when I reported was NOT "how was your trip?", "how are you?", or anything like "welcome, we're glad you're here"; it was "are you going to join the Officer's Club?". I had hoped that in the intervening years things had improved. Nothing like treating the guys who have their fingers on the trigger like dirt.

If a military OFF/EM is in the PRP (Read: Personnel Reliability Program) and all that are involved with the Nuc mission are, one has to be very careful about alcohol consumption. I didn’t say abuse here for a reason. Any accusation of alcohol abuse is the end of PRP status. That means end of job. Sounds to me that someone used alcohol consumption as a means to get rid of the General.
Obama wants to get rid of those nuclear missiles in those silos, and he needs a compliant general of his own choosing in the top position who will do his bidding and not resist. Obama wants a non-nuclear world, and will dismantle our nukes unilaterally before he leaves office, whether Russia lowers their amount of nukes or not.
Stalin used to purge his generals all the time. Keeps them on their toes and subservient to the master. Let’s them know who’s boss and keeps them constantly off guard as they may be next if they cross the wrong person or aren’t politically correct.
