I learned something new and cool today, thank you.

They would tear up 10-15 miles of rail a day, that is incredibly impressive. AMTRAK track crews couldn’t do that much in a week with modern machinery.

Interesting, too, that Ayn Rand’s “Atlas Shrugged” revolved around interstate railroad and failing infrastructure. Such that a metallic alloy developed for rail-construction threatened to topple the government regulatory stranglehold.

Why do progressives champion the railroad?
