So the race is on for the attention of 2.7 million people deemed necessary to enroll in the first year for Obamacare to be successful.

I thought it was 7 million. Must be BLS style accounting like with the unemployment rate; they keep the goal posts of fail.

“No!...... I do not have to pay the Obamacare tax!!”

“I worked for two days at the web site and it would not allow me to join. It’s not my fault I couldn’t sign up! “

“I’m not going to pay that damn tax!”

“This is America!”

“Opting out” requires that you submit a form or establish an ACA account first... and that may not be a good move because you are effectively “red-flagging” yourself pre-maturely.

Yeah... sure... eventually we will all be identified as players or deadbeats, but being the first to paint a target on your back is not necessarily the wisest course of action.

Let the uninformed bozos who voted for this mess be first in line. Let them be the first to realize they need to “opt out”.

I will not be “opting out”... I simply will not comply.

Just set your witholding so you don’t get a tax refund and you wont have to pay the tax. That’s the “glitch” in the law that seemingly is being ignored in the press.

What happens to the Millennial’s/Young Invincible’s rates when the bulk of the Baby Boomers migrate thru the system?

The M/YI rates are jacked up to help subsidize the older folks. What will that huge blob of Boomers do to their rates?

“Now do you think if you get sick or if you get hurt and you get stuck with a massive bill, these same folks are going to help you out?”
And the most needy (according to our government) will pay nothing plus they will still get a 1040EZ gift check annually plus all the perks and other government program assistance that is brought to bear in their favor.
Answer is yes by unjust government coercion yes they will unless we repeal this unjust economy wrecking pile of paper.¿

Actually, the oldest of the boomers are 68 now. When they retire, they go into Medicare. There, Part A is free, but most seniors pay $100/month for part B and they pay for the pharmaceutical program.

The bigger question is what happens when people with large, stable incomes leave the system for Medicare. They're mostly being replaced by a younger generation that has less stable job opportunities and lower incomes. The percentage of this younger generation that gets subsidized will be huge.

“Difficult to do when your self employed”. Not so. You are in control of how much tax you pay to the Federal Government throughout the year. You can pay just enough to break even. You can pay just enough, so that you have to pay them at the end of the year or you can pay “overpay” them so that you get a refund. What I am telling you is that don’t “Overpay” them and unless you have a refund coming, the law has no mechanism to collect the fine/tax.

Thank you for the clarification. I thought the biggest group had yet to pass thru...kind of like a snake that swallows an egg and the “lump” is travelling thru.

We also need to be reminding Christians that we have an opt-out built into the law, faith-based healthcare cost-sharing co-ops, that keeps us out of the exchanges AND shields us from the penalty tax. Here are direct links to the three major Christian healthcare co-ops:

http://mychristiancare.org

http://samaritanministries.org

http://www.chministries.org/

Also, here’s a pretty good news story looking at some of the pros and cons of the Christian healthcare sharing approach:

http://www.americanownews.com/story/19033588/christian-health-care-sharing

Pastors especially should take this up and promote it heavily during the enrollment period. Especially for pro-life congregations. It’s not perfect for everyone, true, but it’s one of the very few legal ways remaining to avoid funding “MurderCare,” and if enough of us went this route, we could do real damage to this abomination of a law, which is really no law, because it so blatantly defies God’s law.

Hopefully the “Yutes of America” are beginning to figure this out.

The smart ones will opt for the fines. The low-info ones will opt to wait for the government to provide perfect health care at no cost - perhaps an adjunct to their EBT cards. Either way, the "foundational funding" will not meet hopes/expectations and will either require more strong arming or a jump straight to single-payer. Don't forget the popcorn.

Oh yeah... quarterly payments... I was talking about the W4... but yes you do get fined if you should pay quarterly and you don’t. I also heard/read that a form is coming with tax season next year which asks you to verify insurance coverage, and is the trigger for the $95.00 fine if you check “no”.
