A half-scale model of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial that usually travels the country has been brought to Washington because the government shutdown is restricting access to the actual wall.
The memorial's creator, Jan C. Scruggs, brought the wall to Washington from Corvallis, Ore. The copy, which is metal and 250 feet long, arrived in Washington on Monday and has been set up on the Georgetown University campus. It was open to the public starting Tuesday, with free shuttles taking visitors to the campus from the Vietnam Veterans Memorial site.
The Vietnam Veterans Memorial on the Mall is technically closed and entrances have been barricaded, but that hasn't prevented tourists from getting around the barricades. Still, there have been reports that Park Police have periodically shooed visitors away.
"If we can't open it, we just bring in a replica!" Scruggs said in an email. "This really is an outrage."

This pRESIDENT has no shame.
Karma needs to kick in, B4 I loose my mind.
I think it’s absolutely striking and amazingly so the people side-stepping the Government in this way and basically saying to Obama...’We’ll have it our way”...and those ways are getting the press!
Becuase the press is reporting these acts of “civil disobediance” this is how to go about taking a stand.
This guy moved the Vets Memorial to the People! He moved the Mountain!
Dear caww, the image you post is not from DC. As deplorable as it is, it happened in NYC.
God Bless them and all the truckers/bikers tomorrow.
Well you would think the person would have not posted it as so......sheesh..makes me not want to not post photos unless they are dated with time and place...and even that is no guarantee.
Somehow the title of first *Lady* business has gone to her head and she conflates her stature.
I don’t think I mentioned where these vets were from...just the definition at the bottom saying it was from the war Memorial. I checked your link and it was vets arrested at the Memorial ..but yes in NYC. ‘
Guess I’m confused at what you’re saying.
LOL....I know you meant well. The way these ‘Nam vets were treated is still an outrage, wherever and whenever it happened.
I just wanted to point out that while the vets were arrested, it wasn’t in DC....which seems to be the topic location. Thas all.
Not to worry. It doesn’t diminish the outrage we all should feel that these heroes are being disrespected because of the Liar-in-Chief’s inability to lead.
This "government shutdown" is misleading; if it were real, there would be less of a government presence in daily life.
Instead, agents and officials have become more intrusive by denying Americans enjoyment of the nations resources to the point they've gone way out of their way in closing off facilities they have nothing to do with!
When it came out they closed off the ocean the game was up. Their expenses must have tripled with all this "inactivity."
I will never, never forget her and the idiot man child at a ceremony, and she mutters...”All this for a flag.”
Never
Well we know what they are......and the longer they can stretch out these negotiations the more of who they are, and the demorats with them, being exposed.
Will it do any good....probably not...but Obamacare is hitting people in the pocketbook HARD and THAT speaks louder than anything else.
