If Reid shuts this down, then this is Reid’s total shutdown.

The debt limit is the emergency brake on government spending.

Removing the emergency brake is not a solution.

Can Reid legally do this?

Just by-pass the House and put us another 1.1 trillion in the hole?

DEBT DOUBLES SINCE OBAMA...

More Here

When Mr. Obama became president in January 2009, the total federal debt stood at $10.6 trillion. This week, it hit $16.7 trillion — an increase of 57 percent. In the same time frame under President George W. Bush, total federal debt rose 38 percent. Under President Clinton, it rose 32 percent.

When asked if Senate Democrats could accept a House GOP plan that would only raise the debt ceiling for a few weeks, Durbin said, “I hope we never face this political Sophie’s choice.”

Sophie's choice was to decide, immediately and at gunpoint, which of two children she was going to keep, and which to send off to the Nazi concentration camp.

That fat lying disgrace of a man Dickless Durbin ought to be dragged out of the Capitol building and horse-whipped in the street.

What a filthy garbage-minded piece of offal he is.

Senate Dems seem very bold.

Guess they see weakness in GOP on debt limit, lots of GOP $$$$ interests getting scared.

If I were Boehner then I’d say: SCREW YOU (pass a short term debt increase) then let the default (which isn’t a default) rest on Senate DEMOCRATS)!

Boehner shouldn't let the RATS dictate the language of the debate.

He should call the "clean bill" what it really is, a blank check.
