Probably even less that that. Probably for a few pieces of silver.

They should add language to any extension that in the event the debt ceiling is not raised again, the United States must pay its creditors first. This would take the whole bogus “default” meme off the table.

Wait a minute, wait a minute. Honest question.

1. Obama would raise the debt with executive powers anyway from what I’ve read.

2. If we default it may bring down wrath on the repubs thus ruining any gains from the shutdown

3. who knows what is actually being offered behind closed doors? I sure as hell don’t.

4. If obama rejects, which I think may happen due to his petulant man-child ego, this can only enhance repubs chances for a suspension of obamacare for 1 year.

Am I wrong on this? Boehner is all we got but I strongly suspect Cruz is behind the scenes pulling strings. Let’s see what happens.

Its only 6 weeks. Caving would be 1 year.

FRiend, they have agreed only to negotiations. Boner SAID 6 weeks. Let's see what comes after negotiations. Hmmm?

If history is any clue, we'll come out of these negotiations with Obamacare fully funded and a promise to consider some more planning for some potential negotiations about talking about the budget, debt and Obamacare in the future.

Will extend the debt ceiling for six weeks in return for Obama and Reid dealing in good faith.

POOF!!!

What was that?
Why that was the Republican party along with the country.

Nuff said.

Too many people on this thread not understanding politics. Good offer on Boehners part. This keeps the Budget dilemma in play (which Tea Party wanted) and allows the noose to get tighter each day Obama refuses to negotiate.

I think you're right. A lot of the negativism is knee-jerk reaction to Boehner's name. But it isn't like he hasn't screwed us before.

If Reid balks at the extension, who exactly are the extremists here? For weeks we have been told that the entire economic order would collapse based on the false premise that there would be a “default”. Now this supposed “default” is off the table, and Reid will not do an extension.?

White House initial response to Boehner and crew 6-week proposal: “The president has made clear that he will not pay a ransom for Congress doing its job and paying our bills. It is better for economic certainty for Congress to take the threat of default off the table for as long as possible, which is why we support the Senate Democrats’ efforts to raise the debt limit for a year with no extraneous political strings attached.”

“Fortunately, it appears Harry Reid is spiking the ball and may end up saving Boehnhead from himself.”

As though Boehner knew this would happen...

What I would give to get the GOP leadership in a room to yell at them to get on the same page and simple message. Every day, every one of them go in front of the press and say:

“We have passed a budget, which is our job under the Constitution. We invite the Senate to do the same, since it is also their job. A job they have failed to do for over four years.”

THEN TURN AROUND AND WALK AWAY.

Well...some are saying this is good thing, others saying it’s a cave in...

If it is a good thing, how much will this increase of the debt limit be and what is the time frame?

If it is a bad cave in, then it’s a bad thing.

Boehner? Is that you?

Boehner is a useless whore. Ryan is a useless whore. Cantor is a ueless whore. McCarthy is a useless whore. They are not alone in what passes for the GOP caucus.

The question is how does a whore house run by Madame Boehner with such personnel obtain customers??? Have the customers no standards whatsoever? How does anyopne sink so oow as to actually pay for the "services" of such as these?

Let's be honest here. Did ANY of us REALLY believe that the Weeper of the House and his footstools would do otherwise?

Weeper Boehner's money masters and paymasters on Wall Street sent him a case of choice Scotch, a few million in campaign funds, a lifetime pass to his five favorite country clubs and a gift certificate for three floozies to be named later and Boehner obeyed his masters' voices. Voila! Another victory for the GOP-E and Obozo over America and the powerless peasant class.

I translate that to mean the sadistic AH in the WH wants to play chicken with the debt limit next week. Boehner’s ploy today has upset their script obviously.
