WASHINGTON (AP) — Now in its second week, the partial government shutdown has taken its toll on the White House, where about 3 of 4 staffers have been furloughed, barred even from checking the BlackBerrys they usually clutch like worry beads.
Of the 1,701 advisers, assistants, number-crunchers, butlers, chefs and landscapers who work at the White House on a normal day, fewer than 450 are on duty, according to President Barack Obama's budget office. The rest fall under an unfortunate label that has kept hundreds of thousands of federal workers home: "non-essential."

Yeah, instead of having his manservant put on his pants, Obama has to put them on himself.
The scene was so funny, I stopped (in the right lane, there was no traffic) just to take in the comedy of it all.
Suddenly a Prius came up behind me (he could have gone around in the left lane) but decided to beep to get me to move. I held my ground until he finally went around. I keep imagining it was probably some disgruntled White House worker checking out the crowds at the WW2 memorial.
Don’t forget the landscaper who cares for the veggie garden.
Since the shutdown started, Obama hasn't played a round of golf, as he does almost every weekend. And there was no fancy night at a restaurant for the president and Mrs. Obama, who marked their 21st wedding anniversary Thursday.
What? One THOUSAND ....WHAT? You got to be freakin' kidding me.

All other 1st Ladies had only one, and Mrs. Eisenhower paid for hers out of her husband’s salary.
But what about Big Moochies personal staff?
Does she still have her personal toilet flusher?

Is his personal food taster still employed?
Is he still hosting nightly Rap and Hip-Hop parties for 500 of the First Couple’s closest friends?

Can’t you just see the mooch not able to get out of bed, draperies drawn, door locked crying, “what about my hair, my clothes, my shoes, my vacation, my lobster, my jet?!
I wonder if their ‘wipers’ were sent home.
Or BO’s ‘taster’- you know, the one who wasn’t available the day he was offered food on a peasant walkabout so, he had to turn it down.
