“The dirty not-so-secret, of course, is that anti-Semitism is flourishing in Europe, whether because of Arab immigration or Nazi impulses welling up from the ashes but it is back and laws such as making circumcision illegal are just like laws to prevent the wearing of crosses.”
Growing up as a circumcised Christian, I guess I never realized how many people in Europe weren’t circumcised. I knew southern Europeans didn’t do it, but I assumed that they did in the north. While Hispanics associate it with Jewish people (as the only people doing it in South America), I’ve always assumed other “white” Christians did it as well.
Elaine has seen one. Didn’t like it.
I didn’t see an uncut peckers until I was 12, because Jews circumcise it as a religious observance and Christians as a health measure, generally. I must say, that the snipped version is better looking imho. The ancient Greeks and Romans felt otherwise, that it was a freakish mutilation.
