Most of the time they’ll avoid you if they know you are prepared to defend yourself. They’re looking for easy defenseless prey.
Besides they didn’t know how long it would take you to get the gun.
My wife won't let me avoid the in-laws. I've tried but no dice. :-(
>>If they had really been determined, they would have gotten to me before I could have gotten the gun out of the rug.<<
Fire a couple of shots through the rug, then take it out and aim properly.
Carrying a handgun in a purse or pouch doesn’t mean you must remove it before you fire your first shot. At night I am a fan of leaving your muzzle covered because it saves your night vision.
Thanks for the post. Great link.
That is some great tactical advice. Thanks
That will generally work with a revolver. That isn’t such a good move with an automatic like his Browning.
And more importantly, react to your instincts.
I’ve owned my CZ-83 since 1990. It has never failed to feed either hollow point or ball ammo. It’s relatively inexpensive also. The last time I saw one in a gun show, it was going for ~$250. I modified mine with MeproLite tritium sights, but it’s otherwise original. I just wish I could put a suppressor on it.
Have you tried it? Probably not, huh? The exhaust from the muzzle enlarges the pouch which allows the ejected casing to clear the slide as it comes forward.
You are one among tens and tens of millions who keep us all free by keeping yourself free. Your guns are your life and your freedom, it’s just that simple.
The new Courthouse Complex here in downtown York (PA) won’t check-in firearms, knives or cellphones anymore; they send you back to your vehicle and you must come back empty of them. Sucks, bigtime.
Don’t be a schmuck... I am Jewish and view White Christians as the only ally of the Jews in the world. Don’t pigeon hole the Jewish people by the words of a few stupid academics.
Broad brush nonsense.
One thing I want to add is a S&W snuuby .38. You can shoot it while it is in your front sweatshirt pocket without worrying about the slide getting caught in the sweat shirt. The ability to fire without removing the weapon from your clothing adds to your defensive ability.
I believe they must allow you to check firearms per state law. Will look for a link.
There are hundreds of cities and towns across America that are very safe places to live and work.
..because we live in an angry society now.
No, that's not the reason.
“I believe they must allow you to check firearms per state law. Will look for a link.”
That is the way we did it in Arizona. I cannot vouch for PA.
A number of years ago, I was in a mall and in the Sears store in the clothing department. As I moved from one part to another in that section, I noticed a man moving to the same sections as I did. When he did it again, my gut said this man has zeroed in on me. I walked into the mall proper, then walked to the right and went into a large toy store. I went in an aisle that had boxes stacked on the top so no one could see me. A clerk came and I asked her to send the manager to me. He came and I told him I thought a man was following me.
He asked me if the man looked like (and gave a description). I said no, that was not him. He said the man he described was the mall security man in plain clothes, so he wasn’t him.
He asked where my car was and I said not far from that toy store. He took me to the back quickly and opened a door to the outside. I rushed to my car, locked the doors, and headed to the freeway and didn’t spare the speed to my house about ten miles away. Got in my house and made sure my house doors and windows were locked.
I knew that man was following me in that store. I knew it, I knew it, I knew it. That is the worst red flag I ever had. Right now, writing this, I can still feel that feeling of get the hell away from this man.
sweatshirt pocket, windbreaker pocket, purse, canvas tool bag, paper bag, etc. No muzzle flash and in most cases no witnesses screaming he’s got a gun.
Here in Lehigh county they tried that same crap until one gun owner set them straight about the law. Here is his account:
