Shortly after President Obama started his second term, a loose-knit coalition of conservative activists led by former Attorney General Edwin Meese III gathered in the capital to plot strategy. Their push to repeal Mr. Obamas health care law was going nowhere, and they desperately needed a new plan.
Out of that session, held one morning in a location the members insist on keeping secret, came a little-noticed blueprint to defunding Obamacare, signed by Mr. Meese and leaders of more than three dozen conservative groups.
It articulated a take-no-prisoners legislative strategy that had long percolated in conservative circles: that Republicans could derail the health care overhaul if conservative lawmakers were willing to push fellow Republicans including their cautious leaders into cutting off financing for the entire federal government.
We felt very strongly at the start of this year that the House needed to use the power of the purse, said one coalition member, Michael A. Needham, who runs Heritage Action for America, the political arm of the Heritage Foundation. At least at Heritage Action, we felt very strongly from the start that this was a fight that we were going to pick.
Last week the country witnessed the fallout from that strategy: a standoff that has shuttered much of the federal bureaucracy and unsettled the nation.
To many Americans, the shutdown came out of nowhere. But interviews with a wide array of conservatives show that the confrontation that precipitated the crisis was the outgrowth of a long-running effort to undo the law, the Affordable Care Act, since its passage in 2010 waged by a galaxy of conservative groups with more money, organized tactics and interconnections than is commonly known.

SHOCKING! A truly demented strategery by those wascalwy wepubicans..
Well, finally the NYT is on to this deviousness.
Must be Chenny's remote bunker. I'm sure that the location itself must be sinister.
But, of course, the fact Harry Reid’s Senate has never passed a budget is not devious at all. Just because no budget means a constant stream of CR’s and a continuing need to raise the debt ceiling because spending is never reigned in, is no reason to believe they did it on purpose. /sarc
Double secret location.
I think using Billy Carter’s gas station would be a good idea.
The rats are going insane. We hit a nerve. Keep drillin’
That’s right and we have over a year to pursue this strategy and weaken this government before it becomes impossible to stop. The police state is here and Americans must fight or capitulate. Shut down the debt lit too and stop the money flow funding the police state.
Pray for America.
Their push to repeal Mr. Obamas health care law was going nowhere, and they desperately needed a new plan.
Most people hate the ACA and want it repealed. A MAJORITY of Americans. And that really grew this week when many finally woke up and saw how much more it would cost them, when BHO lied and said it would save them, they'd get to keep their plan, they'd get to keep their doctor, and a whole assortment of BS.
But you actually knew all this, or did you believe the lies also? If the first, it is YOU--the Slimes, that is part of a conspiracy, or if the second, then your judgment is whack and why should we believe the crap you write?
So if the liberal masters of the universe thought that repeal was going nowhere, did you expect the American People to just roll over? Perhaps some leaders conspiring on the behave of a majority of Americans is a good thing?
Just think on that for more than a few seconds... Just consider that perhaps, just maybe, you could be wrong...
New York Times Area 51, ‘The Truth Is Out There’ Modified Limited Hangout Aliens, They Live! PinchFinallyFlippedOutCompletely Conspiracy Thread
Hoo boy, they’ve really stripped their threads.
Actually, it’s rather reassuring that the NYT has declared Emmanuel Goldstein to be the supreme leader of the Tea Party, who all Tea Party members mindlessly obey. It makes things simple and easy to understand.

Socialists plan years if not decades ahead. We usually make our plans a couple weeks after the Soc/Comms put their latest crisis into action.
If we are planning months ahead, that is a major upset of the status quo of karmic evolution. Can reality withstand such an oscillation? We need to be careful not to force a time warp leading to a universal electromagnetic vector phase shift.
In other words, Wow! Months ahead planning? I’m stuned.
trillions of dollars late,, now they grow spine..
The ‘Rats had three years. All they got is a website that won’t work. Inquiring minds want to know where the money really went.
When you read the comments to the article, you realize the folks who believe in the ACA have little if any real world experience. They live in a fantasty land where people in the US are staving and dying due to corporate greed. It is a simplistic, yet incorrect arguement but they don’t want to have to address the issue of poverty directly. They are more than happy for the government to do the job so they don’t have to get their hands dirty.
Pathetic, intellectually lazy libtard Americans.
Uh.....no mention of the giant (CLOSED DUE TO GOVERNMENT SHUT DOWN) pre-printed signs going up all over the country? They do realize it takes a moment to get those made right?
The laundry list of conspirators is good reading...
BUMP!
