Initial implementation of the Affordable Care Act began last Tuesday with the debut of online insurance marketplaces, which provide a more simplified way to buy healthcare. Uninsured students must find a source of healthcare by March 2014 otherwise they could face fines on their tax return.
Although some believe requiring citizens to buy insurance is unconstitutional, others say its the only way the 48 million uninsured Americans will ever have coverage. The bulk of students fall into the countrys most uninsured age group (18-34), primarily because most young adults are healthy and dont see the need for coverage.
Yes its required now, but I believe preventative care is a good thing, junior Kylie Morris said. I dont think students will understand the value of having insurance until they need it.
The only groups that are excluded from paying a fine are illegal immigrants, American Indians, prisoners, or those who belong to a religion that doesnt allow insurance. Single adults can also be exempt if the online insurance marketplace doesnt offer a plan with monthly premiums that cost less than 8% of an individuals income.
Ultimately, students can expect to become familiar with the online insurance marketplace in the near future as the glitches are resolved. As the March deadline approaches its crucial for students to research their options for insurance plans and what kind of coverage they need.

What religion do we need to join?
Islam. It considers insurance a form of gambling.
Obama lied. Preventative care has been slashed. I work in cancer prevention and our test availability has been cut to the bone. Obama lied, people will die.
“...people will die.”
I am convinced that is a primary objective, I’ve been expecting this since the Clinton administration but I didn’t know how they would orchestrate it. Now we know.
That’s the plan.
How’s that “free” contraception working out for ya, girls?
The Pope and the Mormons could end this immediately. Issue an edict stating mandatory insurance isn’t allowed.

Another line of legal reasoning involves comparing Obamacare to all the dos and donts the Federal Government has put into Law about our privacy rights such as HIPPA, questions that future employers can and cannot ask at ones job interview, etc.
A criminal at arrest time has the right to remain silent which is not an option for any of us - - - , as our Doctors have been forced by the damn Federal Government to betray us over our very loud protests.
Class Action Suit anyone?
Might be something for Senators Cruz and Lee to file for us!
Really, KresLynn? That's the best sentence you could write to describe this blatantly unconstitutional stab in the heart of America and her exceptionalism? They are doing a good job teaching how to erect strawman arguments at Utah Valley University.
