Sacramento -- Gov. Jerry Brown Saturday signed a measure barring state and local law enforcement agencies from detaining undocumented residents solely because of their immigration status. The bill mirrors a similar measure passed last month by the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.

The new bill, AB4 by San Francisco Assemblyman Tom Ammiano, was one of a handful of measures Brown signed Saturday that change the way the state deals with immigration issues. Earlier last week, he also approved a bill allowing undocumented residents to get a California drivers license.

"While Washington waffles on immigration, California's forging ahead," Brown said in a statement.

Even if they dont want to deport illegals for being illegal, they need to keep the law enforced so they can use them for leverage and get more violent criminals at least.

The only positive is this is what the future enforcement will look like with Labrador-Goodlatte-Gowdy Amnesty lite.

If FR wasn’t headquartered in CA, I’d wish for the Big One.

Any sane person left and trapped in CA. has my sympathy. I always remind Progressive acquaintances that I am praying that they get everything they deserve....most are really too stupid to fully comprehend the statement.

While Washington waffles on immigration, California's forging ahead

According to all the Mexican Reconquista's and one federal judge, a state can't make an immigration law.

Gray Davis and Jerry Brown both said that too.

We know what happened to Davis.

Suggest the same for Brown.

Two Recall's in 10 years is OK. Give us something to do.

Of course, the California Republican Party (um, "CRP", pronounced "creep"...good job there guys) has said...wait for it...nothing.

Guess we'll have to go it alone. Maybe we could get another body builder to run...they're popular...

The federal government controls borders. Jerry has no say in it.

If the state is being over-run, that’s a different story.

Here Brown supports and seeks to enable to invasion.

Is there a legal mechanism that would permit two-thirds of the States to eject (dismiss) the rogue State CA that has demonstrated that it is completely opposed to what the rest of the US States adhere to with regard to the Constitution and the rights of American citizens?

Do the elected clowns in Sacramento CA think they are running a Socialist country of their own and don’t have to abide by US laws? ....Apparently so, since Holder has chosen to ignore illegal drugs, illegal aliens, etc., in CA (CO and elsewhere).
