Don’t raise the debt ceiling, just keep the non-essential government workers fired.

They are on a deferred pay vacation. Even Cantor wants to make sure they get their back wages. They are doing nothing now, but everyone expects them to get paid. It's just possible that the paycheck will come at the end of the vacation.

Tragic. For the taxpayer. /S

Essential Government employees continue to work, but will not get paid until a budget is approved (payment deferred).

Non-essential Government were furloughed. They are eligible for unemployment compensation.

Payment for non-essential employees must be separately approved by Congress.

If Congress approves it, then non-essential employees get (1) their full pay - deferred, (2)unemployment checks and (3) a free vacation.

Who gets screwed here?

I could sure use an extra week of paid vacation.

I can’t even retire now because of the uncertainty of this nation.
