Senate Republicans furiously attacked Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Utah Sen. Mike Lee behind closed doors and leaked details of an off-record meeting to the media to harm the two senators, according to Lee.
Lee divulged some of the details of a closed-door meeting on Hugh Hewitts radio show on Friday, since he said much of it had been leaked to the media by his own colleagues.
[N]ormally, I dont comment at all on closed-door meetings between Republican senators, Lee said. Its a pretty strict rule we follow. But one exception Ill make is circumstances like this, where contents of the meeting were leaked deliberately by several of my colleagues and leaked in a very one-sided way. Im happy to tell you about it here.
It was an all-out attack against Ted Cruz and me, he continued. It was unflattering. It was unfair. It was demeaning. It was demeaning to Sen. Cruz and me, but more than anything, it was demeaning to those who engaged in the attack.
Lee said a number of senators had rose to speak against he and Cruz enough that I lost count.
I have to ask the question why werent those who leaked this and leaked it in an unflattering and unfavorable way why were they not willing to attach their names to those quotes? he said. You know, Ted Cruz and I spoke after the meeting and you know, we would both be fine with the American people seeing and hearing what we said in that meeting. But were pretty sure most of our colleagues would be very uncomfortable and downright embarrassed if their constituents saw the way they were behaving.
Lee added there were not really any in the GOP caucus who had rose to his and Cruzs defense.
There were a lot of people who were participating directly in the attacks, adding fuel to the fire, Lee added. There were a lot of others who were staring at their shoes.
Was Dan Coats one of the attackers?
If so, his Indianapolis office is about to get another phone call.
“Lee said a number of senators had rose to speak against he and Cruz...
Jeff Poor, shame on you.
If you have faith in the American People let us know who the traitors are, all of them, and let us deal with them...
Mike’s a straight arrow and a damn hero.
His first great service to America was defeating Bob Bennett in the primary. Now he’s living up to his campaign promises.
The establishment can’t have anyone rock their boat. They have a cushy job that gives them access to big money and they are all so busy feathering their nests that they can’t take time to support the American people. They have to put Cruz, Lee, Paul and even Rubio in their place quick before the people begin to think they may matter.
I am sure Ted Cruz has studied Shakespeare. He knows how this works
Was thinking the same. Terrible, terrible writing.
Dump the Republican Party.
There's a new Maverick in town!!
Why didn’t one of the TEA Party senators turn on his smart phone? At least the audio? That would have been a hoot.
Last week Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, and House Republican Conservatives staged a successful Conservative revolution.
And as long as the ‘’shutdown’’ remains in place, America will continue to have a Conservative government, providing necessary services only, with no funding for ObamaCare.
So why is Mike Lee complaining about anything? After Fidel Castro and his colleagues staged a successful Communist revolution in Cuba, the last thing they did was attend meetings with their defeated opponents and worry about what the losers might be saying about them.
It’s time for the Tea Party Republicans in Washington to concentrate on preserving the Conservative revolution they’ve wrought, which means doing everything possible to keep the ‘’shutdown’’ — also known as limited government — in place. They’ve rendered the John McCains and Lindsay Grahams of Congress irrelevant, so why even meet with them?
John McCain needs to be called out personally and in public before he does any further damage. Since this quisling could compromise us all during the shutdown, McCain must be exposed now.
