Sadly, I think your scenario, coupled with the Navy Yard shootings and law enforcement being on edge, is probably the closest thing to the truth.

It’s not as titillating as depression, meds, psychosis, hearing Obama in your head (who doesn’t - he won’t shut up)or schizophrenia.

Might be as simple as a series of revolting developments.

If a schizophrenic votes once for each personality, is that illegal?

she appeared to be delusional, believing that President Barack Obama had placed Stamford, Connecticut, where they lived, under lockdown and that her home was under electronic surveillance

These days, she might be right.

I'm waving at my computer camera and asking if the NSA dude snooping on my posts has had a good day.

I wonder what countries might have the most effective systems currently, and whether we could learn from any of them.

where are the democrats screaming for automobile control?

The minute it was reported the woman was black, I knew Shelia Jackson-Lee would find a camera. Sure enough, within hours she was on my tv screen blaming the shutdown and the mean Republicans.

depression can turn into psychosis if it is agitated and people are unable to sleep. Medications used for schitzophrenia are also used for other kinds of psychosis in the short term.

Nonsense.

Crazy people have been endangering others since time began. The difference is that, until the 1970s, we locked them away before they could do harm.

Now we let the demented roam free and expect them to treat themselves with good drugs which work only if they are ingested as prescribed. Being brought back to reality is a bitch, so the meds stay in the container on the counter, and the patient spreads his misery, often fatally.

In our 24/7 news cycle, we all know about it immediately.

I’ve witnessed this personally on multiple occasions and over many years. It is not my opinion, but an unpopular fact.

De-institulization was the brain-child of the 'One Flew Over the Cookoo's Nest' liberals. Give me some historical back ups to your claim about mass shooting in American cities or anywhere prior to the advent of mind mucking drugs.

And no, I'm not talking about wars - which have always been with us - or tribal killing - same - or sexual divancy murders like Jack the Ripper. Give me some of the "many" killings where individuals went on shooting sprees for the exclusive purpose of killing as many people as they could - people they had never met...

Who said anything about shooting? There are many ways to kill.

I’m not going to spend time looking up mass murderers for you. Off the top of my head, in recent US history but before SSRIs, try Charles Whitman, Andrew Kehoe of the Bath school massacre (worse than the Newtown murders), Charles Manson, Richard Speck, and on and on. And that’s just in the US.

Untreated mental illness is a danger to us all. Denying it doesn’t change that.

PS, just an FYI - Schizophrenia is not the same as DID/Multiple Personality Disorder. Not to intrude on your joke - but, they are two different psychiatric illnesses.

DID/Multiple Personality Disorder is normally a trauma based disorder where a person dissociates to to far end of the spectrum as a coping skill because of a trauma. Schizophrenia is normally hereditary - paranoia and hear voices.

And some anti-depressants can have very bad effects of some people. So, add depression, some psychosis, and bad meds or even withdrawal - and there ya go - a recipe for disaster.

Personally, I’m going with the meds as the final straw.

Amen! Just downright nuts, and embarrassing that it’s being done in the name of “conservatism.”

The thing that puzzles me is that the voices give coherent messages. The messages aren’t just garbled noise.

“The thing that puzzles me is that the voices give coherent messages. The messages aren’t just garbled noise.”

Schizophrenia is a scary illness. They do hear distinct voices and even orders to do things. Not all schizophrenics are violent, but I’ve seen a couple with those tendencies, and those are the true worrisome ones. Unfortunately, most schizophrenics don’t want to take their meds.

I have a feeling the anti depressants are worse than the psychosis meds which seem to put schizophrenics in a sedated mental state - which they don’t seem to like. Why they want to be off meds and be in a tormented state of mind is beyond me.
