Cory Booker is all but certain to win the New Jersey special election for U.S. Senate.
But as polls show Republican rival Steve Lonegan tightening the race, Booker is getting an uncomfortable reminder that he will have to campaign hard to defend the seat just a year from now, when hed be up for a full term.
Booker faces a tough test of the truncated race against Lonegan on Friday, when the Newark mayor and the former Bogota mayor face off in their first debate. For Lonegan, its a chance to test whether Booker has a glass jaw.
-snip-
Working in Bookers favor is the fact that the debate is on a Friday, in the middle of the day. It wont be widely broadcast, meaning most voters will learn about it from the media. It minimizes the potential impact of any gaffe or slip-up.

whatever comes out of NJ, it will not be a conservative. It’ll be a RINO or a Dems. Two sides of the same coin.
It may be closer than Maggie thinks: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3074807/posts
Obama and Holder have all the votes Booker needs to win sitting in Jersey City warehouse.
There. Fixed it.
If the debate goes well for Lonegan he just might be the next Senator from NJ. It is without a doubt Lonegan has the momentum going into the end of this race and he is a solid conservative and proud Tea Partier.
Nah, what is in Booker’s favor is the electorate of Essex, Hudson, Union, Middlesex, Camden, Mercer and Passaic Counties where skin pigmentation and a leftist lean trumps sanity.
It isn’t a lackluster campaign. He already won. Now it is just counting the votes. That’s the rats tell, when they don’t work for it it is because the outcome has already been determined.
Same reason Obama phoned it in against Romney in the debates.
Bergen, Burlington, and Gloucester Counties will also vote for Booker, as they have for all Democrats in national and Senate elections for the past quarter century.
Cory Crackhouse in trouble?
Damn, that’s a real shame.

I would suggest Booker campaign outside of Newark. That place has gotten to be very unsafe over the last several years.
Hopefully Newark will find someone that can do a better job next time.
