The New York Times, in one more effort to paint the Southern states as hotbeds of racism, estimates that two-thirds of poor blacks and single mothers will be denied health insurance under Obamacare because the Southern states refuse to expand their Medicaid programs.
The Times adds that more than half of low-wage workers without insurance wont get any, either.
Well down in the Times piece is this nugget: more than half of states in the United States have rejected Medicaid expansion, including Ohio, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Wisconsin, which are hardly Southern.
To make the charge of racism stick, the Times notes that 68% of poor blacks who are uninsured live within the 26 states, adding: The disproportionate impact on poor blacks introduces the prickly issue of race into the already politically charged atmosphere around the health care law. Race was rarely, if ever, mentioned in the state-level debates about the Medicaid expansion. But the issue courses just below the surface, civil rights leaders say, pointing to the pattern of exclusion.

Hey, slimes. At what point do we get to say to welfare queens, “Enough! We’re not paying for multi-generational welfare to people who produce nothing!”?
As whites increasingly fall to the lower socio-economic rungs, these stories become meaningless; white guilt dies with white prosperity. For the longest time in our history single mothers were a rarity; Judeo-Christian norms and economic survival saw to that. The 60s brought us actions without consequences, and now the bank is broke.
The NYT provides the rationale as to why Mussolini burned down the offices of leftist rags; they were destroying the country he had fought for in WWI.
Obamacare meets extra resistance in Oklahoma - Actually they sound pretty smart! It's the navigators who are challenged. (well worth a read).
How about telling the truth of the matter for a change NY Slimes? These 26 states refused to expand Medicaid because they are BROKE, not because they are racist. But then, that doesn’t fit your racist narrative now does it?
So what are the chances that folks who want coverage but live in a state that is not expanding medicaid
will “vote with their feet” and transplant themselves to greener pastures?
will vote with their feet and transplant themselves to greener pastures?
We can only hope!
Back atcha slime-balls!
The NYTimes is racist for calling Southern States racist.
Just because these states have turned down this Medicaid expansion money down, it doesn't mean that these states' Medicaid costs won't go up. They will go up and will be paid for by state and local taxes.
This Medicaid expansion is not solely for providing health care for poor people.
The looming problem is older people who for now are living off their savings, SS, and Medicare. As they age they can no longer live on their on, have to go into assisted living, quickly burn through their savings, and then go on Medicaid. This will get worse as more and more Boomers retire/age.
This is why Govs Brewer of AZ and Scott of FL want the Medicaid expansion money. Those two states have lots of retirees.
The NYT can go fornicate themselves. We don’t care what they think.
