Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) released a statement Wednesday faulting the Obama administration for the closure of the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C.
Cruz's full statement:
President Obama is so fixated on forcing Obamacare on the American people that he's even willing to deny World War II veterans the right to access the memorial they have earned through their heroic service.
This scenario encapsulates the bigger problem in Washington. President Obama is so set on imposing his destructive, far-left ideology that his government is literally barricading World War II veterans out of their memorial and blocking funding to the Department of Veterans Affairs.
The House is on track today to pass individual CRs to fund Veterans Affairs and National Monuments, but Senator Reid and President Obama say they refuse to consider them, even though they agreed to pass a similar CR covering military pay on Monday night.
This is untenable and our veterans deserve much better, especially our disabled vets. During this debate we should focus on those areas of agreement and pass those CRs. Thats the practical way to proceed and the House deserves great credit for its leadership.
Honor Flight groups that planned to bring veterans to Washington were being granted access to conduct first amendment activities Wednesday at the World War II Memorial, according to National Mall and Memorial Parks communications officer Carol Johnson.

0bama has more guards at the Barrackaded World War II Memorial than he had at Benghazi.
Seconded.
If this persecution of the WWII HEROES continues, I think those of us who can, need to head to DC to stand with them.
I can’t articulate enough negative adjectives to describe how I feel about the Demonrats.
I think the WWII vets and their guts are something Obama and his cabal did not see coming. I think that prompted Obama to call his 5:30 fake mtg with Dems/GOP at the WH later today. Dealing harshly with WWII vets is a lose-lose for Obama.
Boehner be use every piece of leverage he has!
That picture, brought to us by Obama Inc and his communist Democrats! Makes my blood boil!
It’s not “health care.” It’s the loony program known to most of the world as “Obamacare,” the main purpose of which is to turn the US into a socialist dictatorship where the government has control of every citizen at a very personal level.
That picture should be a billboard all over the country and the tag line should read,”the leader of the democrat party.”
I am seething.
My Dad was at Normandy and my Father-In-Law was at Guadalcanal...all my Uncles fought in WWII. This punk in the White House isn’t worthy or qualified to wipe their a$$e$. I won’t stand for Obama’s attempt to humiliate them.
I’m willing to organize a bus trip and stand with these HEROES. I know I could fill one, probably more.
This is THE LINE for me.
Boehner be use every piece of leverage he has!
Which of his many white flags with Bonehead take to the meeting?
Will he be sober? (ok.. a bit harsh)
Will he cry?
Wow, well said!
The memorial is being “BARRY-CADED”
I don’t think this has anything to do with health care and would be happening regardless of the law, unless it is a diversion tactic.
That was my theory as well. Obama needed to quickly put up a smoke screen; the memorial story has already gone viral and is hurting him and the Dems who are following him in lockstep. The meeting is nothing but a diversionary tactic timed for the evening news cycle.
THIRDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Y’all are on top of it today, I need to drink my coffee and catch up :)
