Harry Reid’s Office Leaks Boehner Office Emails—And It Could Ruin Any Faith You Have in Washington
The Blaze ^ | 10-2-2013 | Becket Adams

A series of leaked emails from House Speaker John Boehner’s chief of staff, Mike Sommers, show that the Speaker may have coordinated with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nevada) to exempt Congress from Obamacare.

The emails were leaked Tuesday by David Krone, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s chief of staff, who actually has a history of this sort of thing.

The leaks, which are a major taboo in Washington, show Rep. Boehner (R-Ohio) worked behind the scenes earlier this year to address confusion over a provision in the Affordable Care Act that would force members of Congress and their aides into the exchanges. In fact, if one were to go by the leaks, which were first given to Politico, it appears that the offices of Boehner and Reid regularly coordinated to exempt Congress from the health care law.

But given that the Speaker is now apparently against congressional Obamacare exemptions, the emails make him look inconsistent and hypocritical – which may have been the point of their leaking.

Behind-the-scenes collusion among party elites in Washington?

I can’t even feign shock or surprise.

No shock whatsoever. As I said yesterday when this rumor floated, I had no doubt Boehner did this. He’s a career politician and he never does anything conservative unless he’s dragged kicking and screaming by his caucus. He needs to be removed from leadership, since he provides none. If this helps justify replacing him in the minds of enough of his caucus, then this’ll be a good thing.

Boehner should have known better. i'm suspect of his excuses and cya's on this one. In his defense, its popular with most of the 535 elected peeps, except TeaPartiers, who do know better.

I won't cast him out yet, but it won't help him with the next leadership vote, imho.

As long as Boehner sticks to his guns I will just assume that he changed his mind.

This is about his own healthcare coverage and the coverage of his family.

Using his government connections to do it, while betraying the electorate? He is there to speak for US - not himself.

He needs to be run out of town on a rail.

This just cements suspicions that it's a one party system that uses whatever blackmail means possible to extract their desired outcome when someone goes rogue. Wish Reid would cough up some Justice Roberts e-mails.

No fan of Boehner, but I don’t think this is a problem. I’d tell Reid anything he wanted to hear anytime he wanted to hear it, if I had the opportunity to stab him in the back later.

Boner is the Dems dream GOP speaker, now they’ve seriously wounded him. If he caves, he will have almost no credibility with the base and seen as ineffectial and damaged goods by moderates. So now if he caves, he will be forced out or even lose his seat. He has crossed the Rubicon and Pompey’s armies are forming, he might as well fight to the finish.

He is a big ol drunk, many in the press were tweeting that members throughout the weekend smelled of booze taking frequent cocktail breaks.

Get rid of them all, except Cruz and his allies...

The emails describe how Boehner needs the meeting to carve out an Obamacare exemption for he, Reid, Congress and their staffs.
He says it needs to be kept secret, and that they can pretend in public it was Obama calling them in to discuss Immigration reform.

Wait around if you want. But that’s corrupt enough for me. It is not kneejerk, it is not breathless. It is a stone cold realization that Boehner is untrustworthy. I fear that that the word “untrustworthy” will not carry the gravity I wish it to, but that’s it.

Apparently, Boehner is the keeper of Pubbie goat pictures, how else could he have become Speaker.

Boehner should say he is sorry for dealing with lying scum bag Dems who can’t negotiate in good faith and not disclose things said in confidence. Then he should resign as Speaker and let the GOP reps pick a Tea Party sympathizer as Speaker.

The Dems should discover that sometimes things don’t go as you plan.

Boehner needs to be allowed to stick to his guns. We can, and I’m sure will, deal with this matter later.

But not now.

This is a clear distraction/divide and conquer move on Reids part. He WANTS us to focus on this, and to turn on Boehner. Which undermines the holding fast on the shutdown.

People, Reid is trying to play us. We can’t let him.

Why not get out of 0bamacare if you can? It’s Reid who says it’s great but doesn’t want it. It’s Reid who is shown to by hypocritical here. DOH! We already knew Boehner didn’t want it.

i whole-heartedly concur!
