Agreed, the leadership is covering every marginal district across the nation. It’s rare that a single topic or issue, particularly one conservatives care about, galvanizes across every district. King (NY) freaked out a bit, but I think he got slapped good today.
Boehner proved that he has the votes to control the House. That sends a very, very clear message to Obama and Reid: Deal now or suffer.
The government is the Democrats constituency. How long will a welfare mom go without her check on the 3rd of the month?
DC is shut down and it’s their own tax money they’re spending. How long will that be tolerated?
This deal is over come the weekend. The Dems will break on the little bills, then the garbage starts piling up, etc. The Dems know their up against it. They only have one answer to the nations economic woes - more debt and spending. Without that, they’re not a party any more.
I think Boehner’s very, very sharp.
Hopefully, more than a little bit.
We sometimes speak of how conservatives need to reclaim the Republican Party. This is the kind of goal-line stand that can help make that sort of thing happen, if the will exists to see it through.
I think Boehner understands that his Speakership is on the line now. The conservative caucus has its heads on the proverbial chopping block here and they won't stand for a cave by leadership now.
