I attended a meeting with some left wing activists including several state Maine State Employees Association (part of SEIU) officials. Clearly they view Obamacare as a short term solution to a federally run single payer system.

I suspect most of the Rats want Obamacare to fail-they throw up their hands and say “We did the best we could to fix the system, but now the only solution is Singlepayer.”

Here is the problem with that.

Has the federal government ever ended a short term anything? They are too incompetent to actually run healthcare. They can't even do it for the Veterans Administration without a years long waiting period for answers to anything. Federal employees just play musical chairs with requests for service. So the only answer is a federal oversight of privately contracted managed care companies. Those are called HMO's. Ted Kennedy legislated their carve out in 1974 under the HMO act of 1974. The only difference was that state insurance regulators carried out the oversight.

So we really are thrown backwards to 1974 under Obamacare. I just wish the copays were still $2 and the monthly premiums were about $250 a month for a married couple with kids.

That is what my nurses union is banking on and has been the goal.99% of the union dues paid goes for political causes. The Dems score big time with union monies and I’m sick of it.

Not only a single payer health system, it’s a foot in the door to nationally run energy production and distribution, manufacturing, et al; in short, it’s a prelude to the universally proved failure of socialism.

Bingo.

Obama himself is on the record prior to becoming president, that it will take a long time to get there. But that’s where they will go.
