McCain knew his only chance to win in 2008 was to swing for the fences, so he selected a true conservative, Sarah Palin, as his running mate. She gives one of the best convention speeches ever in American politics, and for a brief time the GOP ticket takes the lead. Then McCain’s inner circle of hacks works incessantly to undermine Gov. Palin with the political opposition, the media, and the American people. And the predictable result is a defeat at the hands of a weak, unqualified, homosexual Communist and his village idiot VP pick.

McCain graduated fifth from the bottom of his class at Annapolis. His claim to fame is that he is the son & grandson of admirals, was shot down over Vietnam, and spent 5+ years as a POW. Oh, and he was the only ‘Pub who shamed himself in the Keating Five scandal, yet managed to avoid prison time.

As a human being and a politician, he has been an abject failure. How he fools the citizens of Arizona every six years with his B.S. is beyond me.

Well said. I do respect that McCain's survival being a POW is deserving of recognition and admiration. However, he has made a habit of stepping on his tie on almost every issue. He desires to be remembered as the man who was shot down in Vietnam, endured horrible atrocities, and then came home to become a “nice” politician. His reaching across the aisle is always misguided and is, indeed, shameful. I did vote for him. He will always be, in my mind, the guy that gave us Obama. As for GWB, he did prevent AlGore and JF’nKerry from sitting in the White Hut. Cheers for that!

I disagree (About the Palin Choice only). I think McCain never intended to win and the choice of Sarah Palin was a mistake that almost ruined his plan.

Indeed,John McCain’s long-term “legacy” will boil down to only ONE positive thing-—having introduced Sarah Palin to the American electorate, however self-serving it was in its designs. Not so ironically, his losing the election was blamed on Palin, when the reality was the Palin as his running mate accounted for him doing as well as he did—she brought him MILLIONS of votes.

My Phoenix cousin says the people who run against him are worse.
