So the German (and Polish, Czech, and many others who were forced to man the defenses) lives lost don't matter? Nazi-ism was a great evil, but the majority of regular German troops weren't diehard Nazis, but soldiers trying to stay alive.

War is hell, and dead soldiers are all on the same side.
