In the wake of the mass shooting at the Washington Navy Yard that left 13 dead including the shooter, Rep. Steve Stockman (R-Texas) announced plans to introduce a bill to allow military personnel to pack heat while on military bases.
Stockman told a crowd at the Liberty Political Action Conference on Friday night they were the first to hear about the bill, which he plans to introduce in the coming weeks. The legislation, sponsored by Stockman, will allow military personnel to not only carry, but also fire back in the event that an armed combatant opens fire on a military base.
You know, its really strange, and one of the things were introducing which well, youll be the first to hear this, is that, do you all find it odd that somebody can pull out a gun on a military base and our guys cant shoot back? Stockman asked the crowd. I dont know about you but Im sitting there going, that is the strangest thing. These are the guys that we entrust to protect our families. These are the guys that we entrust to protect our country. These are the guys who, by the way, we have trained. And what do we do? We say, excuse me, you can protect our nation but you better not protect yourselves.

It should be called the “Do We Care Enough to Change” Bill...in honor of 0’s callous statement *honoring* the Navy Yard victims.
Good for him, it is way pass time for this law to be passed. Unbelievable that our own military are sitting ducks on their own bases.
I thank obama for this, among many other things.

oopps, been awhile for me
What’s weird is the BX sells guns and ammunition, but you have to take them immediately off base. So they trust the military enough to sell them weapons, but they don’t allow them to have them on the base? Like that’s going to actually stop someone who wants to bring a weapon on the base illegally. It’s complete nonsense. Military personnel are EXACTLY the kinds of folks you want to be walking around armed. God forbid that a terrorist team gets onto a base these days, because we’re unarmed. It’s no secret. There are signs all over the base saying it’s illegal to carry weapons. This politically correct BS will get people killed.
>> but they dont allow them to have them on the base?
Well, they’re apparently concerned about mass murder.
They always carry overseas in condition amber if not red, so why treat them like children once back home?
I think you need to “thank” Slick Willie for the EO that banned the military from carrying on domestic bases, and “W” for being asleep at the switch and not rescinding it.
Incredible that this even has to be done.
Can you imagine telling soldiers during WW II that they couldn’t carry their weapons on a military base? And that they would be far “safer” if they didn’t?
Our vets fought to defend THIS kind of crap??
Well, there is no good reason for disarming the very people who carry arms in defense of the nation. The only reason is a political one. Then, when unarmed people on a base are gunned down in an attack, the same gun grabbers will simply advocate for MORE gun control.
I’m telling you. Gun grabbers are absolutely evil. They would deny each of us the right of self defense. There is really nothing more fundamental than the right to defend oneself from attack. The right to life is God given.
Gee, military people carrying guns on a base. We can’t put guns in their hands ! They aren’t smart enough to identify who the REAL enemy is like Obongo can ! /S
Way past time to reverse ole bentmember’s disarming the military.
Good job Steve - give common sense a chance.
