Shabaab, al Qaeda's affiliate in East Africa, claimed that three Americans, a Canadian, a Brit, and a Finn are among the fighters who are involved in the siege of the Westgate Mall in Nairobi, Kenya. At least 68 people have been killed in the attack so far, and Shabaab is holding hostages.
Shabaab named nine members of the Westgate suicide assault team on its now-defunct Twitter account. It also mentioned a female fighter but did not provide her name or nationality. There may well be other members of the assault team who are unnamed. Twitter has shut down Shabaab's account twice in the past two days as the group has constantly tweeted updates on the assault.
The named fighters were identified as:
Abdifatah Osman Keenadiid, 24, from Minnesota Ahmed Mohammed Isse, native,from St. Paul, Minnesota "Gen." Mustafe Noorudin, 27, from Kansas City, Missouri Abdirizak Mouled, 24, from Ontario, Canada Ahmed Nasir Shirdoon, 24, from London, United Kingdom Ismael Guled, 23, from Helsinki, Finland Sayid Nuh, 25, from Kismayo, Somalia Zaki Jama Caraale, 20, from Hargeisa, Somalia Qasim Said Mussa, 22, from Garissa, Kenya
US officials who track Shabaab and were contacted by The Long War Journal said they are aware of reports that Americans are involved in the Westgate siege, and are investigating Shabaab's claim.
One official said the claim is "credible and not surprising" given the number of Americans who have waged jihad in Somalia over the past several years.
Americans are known to serve as leaders as well as fighters and even suicide bombers for Shabaab in Somalia. The two most prominent Shabaab leaders are Omar Hammami and Jehad Mostafa. Both are Specially Designated Global Terrorists.

Somali terrorists probably rehearsing for a similar attack on a mall in the US. I have long thought that Minnesota based Somali terrorists will someday targeting the Mall of America.
They have recruited many from here in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood in Minneapolis.

The west has become a land of mentally ill people. It’s epidemic really.
Not *really* Americans nor Europeans. They are, first and foremost, Muslims. They just happen to have lived in America and Europe where short-sighted governments have foolishly granted them and/or their families citizenship.
I’d hope that right about now, these people’s families would be in a CIA office being questioned, but most likely they are in a CIA office because that is where they work.
My Question to Obama is, Israel keeps armed guards everywhere and citizens sometimes carry those scary black guns. They are in malls shopping centers, everywhere.
We have so far had a nut case problem. But seeing as some of those in Kenya were here, what’s to stop some big time coordinated attack at numerous malls during Christmas. I think your NSA are either spying on the wrong people or complacent.
I remember years ago, a friend had been to a matinee and there were about 6 middle eastern men in their 20’s who were running from the back to the front of the theater, timing themselves, then running to exits and timing themselves, etc. My friend and her mother left the theater, quite nervous. They reported this, but, of course, nothing came of it.
I think shopping malls and theaters are major targets.
These people have been emboldened by a weak (or worse, sympathetic) president.

I hope every single terrorist in Kenya (and in the rest of the world) will be killed in this evil act or their first evil act of violence. I don’t care if the terrorist is our Dear Leader’s brother, a Canadian, or from anywhere else. All terrorists deserve the same penalty - just like all pirates, and all communists.

On another subject, if this claim is indeed true - isn’t it true then, that due to our incredibly idiotic immigration policies, that we are allowing the exporting of terrorism? So, then, how, exactly, would we different than Iran? Pakistan? Saudi Arabia? Shouldn’t we then be on other countries “lists”?
