According to an ESPN.com report, a number of players from Georgia, Georgia Tech and Northwestern staged a peaceful, but visible protest of the NCAA's alleged treatment of student-athletes donning equipment marked with the initials "APU," as in All Players United.
The National College Players Association, which is seemingly co-opting this movement with a number of players from various schools throughout the country, has the following message posted on its Web site.

Thank you.
Come again.
I’m conflicted: The players know what they’re getting into and know what to expect. They’re also getting the chance to receive a college degree. On the flip side I question the NCAAs ability to make money off of them, especially since I believe that the NCAA is a crock. I’m a former NCAA athlete, by the way. I think the organization knew about Sansusky and about many other blatant rule breaking, but chose to ignore these issues becus of $$$. Just my 2¢.

don’t blame them...the NCAA is run like a communist organization; the players make millions of $$$ for universities and the NCAA yet cannot sell or trade their own personal belongings...
they NCAA is a joke...i went to a Div IA school on a track scholarship; we would go to national meets and sleep in fleabag hotels, four to a room, and get $8 meal money for dinner (this was mid 80’s)...NCAA execs stayed in four star hotels and ate like emperors...
its a joke...
(Shaking my fist!) Darn you double post!
Auxilliary Power Unit?
Can someone please translate this? What the heck does it mean?
There’s been a big hullabaloo about college players selling autographs and so on. I assume this is about that controversy.
“autographs.”
How much is four years of room and board? At least $100,000. Seems to me a pretty good deal.
No but these football players get a chance at an education that many others will never get ( if they chose to go to class that is). Moreover many will go to the NFL and earn a ridiculous amount of money (even if only for one season)
These elite self entitled sports folks have none of my sympathy. I worked my way through college and watch them be silly and stupid. Too bad you signed up for it. You knew what you were walking into. Grow up and act like a man. Honor your signed contract (letter of intent)
exactly
I am beginning to lament how big money college athletics has become....I just don’t enjoy it as much now....I guess I am more of a traditionalist, I like all games to be played on Saturday afternoon on campus. I like the New Years’ Day bowl games.
I think in a lot of ways the new playoff system is going to kill a lot of the charm that College Football had, as it now becomes just another big business.
What ncaa rules did retired PSU coach js violate? This is like saying a school should be penalized for an ex-player being convicted of dwi manslaughter.
You think the ncaa “knew about” him? How did they know when no one in the state of Pennsylvania knew?
Agreed. It’s more than I received as a student-athlete. At the same time, the NCAA can sell their numbers and images to EA Sports for profit and the players get nothing. Like I originally posted, I’m torn over the issue. There is no easy answer vin my opinion. Feel free to disagree, I’m all ears because of my own personal experiences.
Preaching to the choir. I find I enjoy the local high school games more and more these days
Simma down na! I never accused your precious coach of anything!
