Imma call "Bullsh!t!!!" on that part.

And you would be correct. Because everything is now automated it takes very little to make such changes. A rotisserie chicken from the deli department is not permitted because it is considered a "prepared" meal, but a Banquet frozen fried chicken dinner is eligible.........it would be very simple to switch the classification on both items with a few key strokes.

“Here is the CORRECT headline:

Demonic Republican Tyrants in Congress Strip Poor, Starving Infants of Baby Formula In The Hopes They Die, Wretched and Alone, On A Barren Rock In the Oppressive, Deadly-Hot Rays of the Sun, Which Are Made More Deadly By Global Warming That Republicans Are Responsible For, Plus I Think They Started AIDS To Kill Black People Because They Are Racist.”

Are you a Producer at NBC/MSNBC?

The first thing I want to see is for illegals to be removed, totally off the dole! I don’t want to hear that illegals are not eligible and all that hogwash- illegals that have a baby/children born here or who are pregnant darn sure do get it, and as adult in household the illegal parent decides what to do with it...use it, trade it for booze or drugs, sell it...

Once all the illegals are off then we can see who else can be cut.

I believe it is called an Access Card these days. Used by invaders with 50 kids and tattoos.

Have fun over there with your fellow scumbags.

I’ve see a few chicken restaurants on Keystone Ave. in Indy that proudly display an “EBT Accepted Here” on their signage.

Pizza places sell the same pizza, only uncooked.

One would think, judging by the story.

Some states are issuing cards that work at fast food places, it was tested this summer in some areas with the summer lunch program for kids...

Bingo OAV - I have been unemployed now almost a year and have been submitting resumes in and out so far nothing. Anyway due to the sequester they reduced my unemployment by $50.00 and so I’m getting low on funds so on Oct 1 I am going to apply for food stamps so it won’t cut into funds for rent. I am ashamed to but I have no choice right now. Also I am under the county basic care for now but I refuse to go to a clinic unless it is an emergency. I am still paying for my meds which one is like 13.00 because I don’t feel the taxpayers should pay for my struggles. As I see my checking it is getting low so I will need help.

I get so angry to hear abuses. There are people who really need it. Yet there are people buy lobsters, and high price items. I will be elated to find a job soon so I can immediately get off assistance.

Food is getting expensive. I remember under President Bush I would spend at least 30.00 which included fruits, vegies, bread, and some meat. Now without the meat it reaches like $50.00. The more this is getting worse the more I detest Democrats for what they have done.

Just in case someone reading the thread isn't aware, food stamps are also used for buying fast food at the retail location, including the drive through.

Just in case someone reading this thread isn't aware, your claim is wrong. More than one type of benefit is placed on the same EBT card, not just food stamps. What used to be issued in the form of a welfare check is now placed on the same card that includes what used to be issued in the form of food stamps.

While I'm sure that markets would be saddened by seeing food stamps end, I don't think they'd actually fight it all that hard;

Once again you are incorrect.

food stamp customers, even with EBT cards, require more service and generally buy less high value merchandise than other customers.

They need no more service than someone using a debit card and many tend to purchase more items that make money for the store, such as frozen TV dinners and other prepared food items which tend to be high dollar in comparison to the cost of the basic ingredients to make them.

The Republican-run House of Representatives voted to cut spending on food stamps for the poor by $40 billion over 10 years on Thursday, defying a veto threat from the White House in the name of fiscal reform.

It's actually 4 billion a year...for 10 years

That's a rounding error in DC...

50% would be a good start, 5% isn’t even a token to the taxpayers!

EBT cards also have on them what used to come as a welfare check - it is cash that can be used for anything and is separate from the money on the same card that used to be called food stamps.

There have to be ways we can do this. It just takes courage.

Like creating jobs. There are millions who have been forced to welfare in the reign of Obama. Even here at FR we've seen a lot of people lose their jobs and forced to accept government help. Those people want jobs they can support their families on.

Maybe food stamp funding should be directly tied to job numbers. Let the democrats explain why we need to fund food stamps with all these new people supposedly entering the work force.

Here in Michigan we voted to require drug testing and community service for food stamp recipients. I doubt it will withstand the inevitable court challenges but I think it could be tweaked to make it more acceptable to the courts. I personally would start with a baseline amount and offer to increase it for those willing to submit to drug testing and more still for those volunteering for community service.

Wasn’t the low end fraud estimate something like 80 billion?
