Seniors push bill to repeal Obamacare provision that raises their costs
Washington Examiner ^ | 09/18/2013 | Joel Gerhke

Rep. Ron Barber, D-Ariz., introduced a bill to repeal a provision of Obamacare that threatens to increase costs for senior citizens after constituents brought the issue to his attention.

“This piece of legislation is a direct result of the concerns of the people I represent and discussions with the people of Green Valley,” Barber said in a statement Tuesday on the Helping Families and Seniors Save on Health Care Act.

“The most important thing I can do is bring the voice of our community to Washington. In this case, that means protecting Southern Arizona seniors from rising health-care costs," Barber said.

Barber wants to repeal a provision of Obamacare that diminishes the amount of medical expenses that senior citizens can deduct on their tax filings.

"Currently, taxpayers can take a federal income tax deduction for medical expenses that exceed 7.5 percent of their adjusted gross income," a Barber aide said in explaining why the congressman wants to keep the threshold for deducting medical expenses at 7.5 percent.

"As part of health care reform, this year that threshold is to be raised to 10 percent for taxpayers under age 65. In 2017, the increase also will apply to taxpayers 65 years of age and older," a background document said.

RE: Notice they have no problem with the rest of Obamacare screwing others

Isn’t that just like most Americans? ( yes, even those who call themselves “conservatives”).

They say they want smaller government, yet when the cuts start affecting their pet causes or personal deductions, suddenly, then start fighting the cuts.

Ya gotta love dim-bulb-crats...always covering their slimy Obamaholes. Yup, just keep caving to each voting group that complains...and delay, lie, pass costs, and keep driving at warp speed towards the cliff.

I really, really, really want to be Chief O’the Guillotine(s) following the successful conclusion of CW-II, and the imprisonment and condemnation of liberals.

Ya know, we’ll have to design a software operated guillotine in order to handle the load. Self sharpening blade, too, with a conveyor belt to schlep the heads to wherever Dead Ted is buried. After all, we want to keep throughput high.

That's because representative Barber (D) voted on the bill before he could find out what was in the bill.

He should be held accountable for his purposeful disregard of duty to his constituants. IMHO, it should include jail time. But hey that's just me.

Sixty-eight percent of the American people DO NOT want ObamaCommieCare. And that includes Republicans and democrats. The Republicans had best block it if they wish to hold on to their offices. The media cannot beat on them any harder than millions of pissed off voters!!

The best way to fix a broken system is to SHUT IT DOWN, and THEN fix it.

Speaker Newt SHUT DOWN the US Federal Government in the 1990’s and it WORKED!

Clinton then took credit for balanced Federal Budgets, fewer people were in poverty, and all because Newt said NO !

The Liberal Agenda Media and the Democrats boo-hooed to this day, but Newt achieved success.

The worst punishment that a Democrat, or RINO can imagine is to take away their ability to spend our tax dollars.

The best way to do that is to shutdown the non-essental parts of the US Federal Government, starting with mothballing Air Force One.

Why not have the true Republicans require a BINDING, updated, “Federal Financial Impact Statement” for 2012-2013 for Obama”care?”

It should take a month or two to complete, allow for a vote to delay Obama”care” for a year, and then show the great financial harm to our Economy that the Statement’s numbers will document.

Wharton, Stanford, Michigan and Princeton could also file their independent Financial Impact Statements to compare to the Office of Budget and the Congressional Budget Office Financial Impact Statements.

As B. Hussein is fond of saying: “We need to get all the facts first.”

RE: That’s because representative Barber (D) voted on the bill before he could find out what was in the bill.

Yep, a patch here, a change there, repeal this section, repeal that section, make an exception to this group and that group ... in the end you end up with an even bigger , unrecognizable, unwieldy and unenforceable bill.

The one plain solution staring at these clowns is the one they don;t have the courage to do — SCRAP THE WHOLE DAMN LAW AND REPLACE IT !!

And of course, they have absolutely no problem with leeching off the younger generation (like me).

Hypocrisy is disgusting.

You do not get world class medicine on a mass distribution budget, especially when said budget covers millions of people who never paid into anything in the first place—and who have never followed early health care guidelines.
