What's better, staying in an upper floor of your hotel where management is trying to keep the guests as comfortable as possible or standing out in the heat on a muddy runway with crying children? Where are these people's brains? Ride it out inside where there's a nice bed, get a good poker game going with the family and raid the hotel's vending machines.
I can understand the tourists who booked vacations months in advance but those locals who couldn't check the 5 day weather reports shouldn't get any sympathy.
The hotels should supply free cerveza and some Acapulco Gold.
Why would anybody go to Mexico for a vacation? I can think of a dozen other third world hellholes I would rather be.
Storm of some kind down there?
That's who it looks like is in most of the victim pics, at link.
Any Zombies?
You can go for weeks without food. There are days when I haven't eaten since 6pm the previous day.
We were robbed at gunpoint on the beach there in 1974, by Mexican cops. Haven’t been back. The only place I’ve ever vacationed that had warm ice.
My brother and sister-in-law just had their honey moon in Acapulco a month ago. I bet they are glad they aren’t there now!
Maybe a good number of the unwanted up here can go home and get jobs rebuilding. While they are gone shut the door.
Countdown until the Obama administration offers to let some of those affected by the storm emigrate to the US as hardship refugees.
10, 9, 8, 7, 6 ...................
There must be massive damage.
1. When you travel, always take food with you and keep it until you get home in case you might get in trouble during the trip and have to have it. I always carried a jar of peanut butter, a plastic knife, and box of crackers when we flew to any country, plus always had a bottle of water.
2. Always have a small flashlight.
3. Always have a smallish First Aid Kit which has bandages and antibiotic ointment.
Those three suggestions will keep you safe in most situations. No, you can’t take your AR-15 on a plane.
Hmmm, I wonder how many people are going to learn anything from this lesson in how to handle a SHTF situation?
My guess... Not many.
Would you trust a building in Mexico when the storm surge floods the foundation and starts undermining it? I’ve seen how they’re built and I wouldn’t.
We’re actually in Puerto Vallarta right now...the storm went south of here and then reformed north of here. Beautiful weather here though... :-)
One of the news readers tonight mentioned that the name Acapulco comes from an Indian word for “Washed Away”.
Wasn’t there a Freeper down there during the storm? They posted a thread and then had to leave wherever it was they were? Am I’m misremembering?
