Highly secure Building ?? RIIIIIGHT. No magnetometer. No X-ray machine. 1-2 rentacops.
Of course, it was less than 200 yards from the Marine Barracks at 8th and I. . . .which ALWAYS has a Ready Squad on alert, but were THEY called for an attack on a Naval Headquarters ????
For that matter, the building was full of senior Naval Officers, NCOs, and experienced veterans. And they ALL either “sheltered in place” or ran from the scene. And that’s the REAL shame: I thought our Armed Forces personnel were supposed to run TO the sound of the guns, and take a little initiative. . .
(and Bush, and Obama, because they let the standing orders remain in effect)
I don't think "suicide" is a standing order. But your point is well taken. I fail to see how making military bases "free fire" zones is a good thing. In my better world, the officers would have been armed, and running TO the sound of gunfire.
Thankfully Bill Clinton made all those buildings safe by making them “gun=free” zones. The sign should have stopped the shooter. Right?
