Last spring, as networks like MSNBC launched five months of saturation coverage intended to force gun control on the American people, we said, over and over and over and over again, that there was (tragically) another Adam Lanza sitting out there, glued to his TV screen, and planning his own five months of fame.
As it became clear that Congress was not going to pass gun control in April, MSNBC commentators said, almost wistfully, that it would take another mass shooting to reinvigorate their cause.
Well, they got the mass shooting they were looking for.
On Monday, a discharged Navy enlisted man entered a heavily secure Naval installation in Washington D.C. and engaged in a series of firefights, which ultimately left 12 others dead.
As the liberal media exploits this new set of victims to resurrect its war on guns, we will say again: There are one or more creeps like Aaron Alexis watching your coverage and planning their own time on your network. And, when they strike, the blood, once again, will be on your hands.
Although we dont know all the details, we can make several observations:
* First, once again, the shooting occurred in a gun-free zone, filled with ID checks and metal detectors that everyone erroneously assumed would save them.
* Second, the shooting occurred in a jurisdiction, Washington D.C., which has been rabid in its efforts to take guns away from its own citizens -- and to make it illegal for Washingtonians to defend themselves.
*Third, lest there be any question, Congress has banned the possession of any firearm or other dangerous weapon in a Federal facility [18 USC, Sec. 930]. Hence, they all but advertised to Alexis, that, with the exception of security, everyone in the Naval facility would be sitting ducks.
In sum, the shooting occurred in a jurisdiction where the firearm was illegal and in a building where firearms are illegal. Other than banning firearms nationally, how many more illegalities do anti-gunners intend to pile on?
Banning guns and imposing background checks wont stop these creeps, but armed good guys will. Remember that the Oregon shooter last December stole his AR-15 before killing two people at the Clackamas mall. But he retreated when he saw Nick Meli, who holds a concealed carry permit, draw his gun and point it at him. The killer then retreated and took his own life.
Given that putting guns in good peoples hands will save lives, why are law-abiding personnel being disarmed here on military bases? How ironic that when CNNs John Roberts asked a military spouse if she was anxious about her husband being deployed to Afghanistan (in 2009), she responded: At least hes safe there and he can fire back, right?
Efforts will be made to scapegoat Virginia for this most recent tragedy. But, not coincidentally, Alexis did not attack a Virginia locale where potential victims could defend themselves with guns.
ACTION: Contact your senators and representative. Let them know that, despite the efforts of the liberal media to milk this tragedy for political gain, the problem is not the Second Amendment. The problem is anti-gun laws and policies.
Bump
Double bump. This is a must read.
“....As the liberal media exploits this new set of victims to resurrect its war on guns, we will say again:..... There are one or more creeps like Aaron Alexis watching your coverage and planning their own time on your network.... And, when they strike, the blood, once again, will be on your hands.....
Every public shooting since at least 1950 in the U.S.... in which more than three people have been killed... has taken place where citizens are ‘not’ allowed to carry guns.....
Sane or not... Murderers pick places where they know their victims will be ‘unarmed’.
What the news is not reporting are those who were there who said ....had it not been for Clinton banning them from having ammunition at the Navy yard...they could have stopped this guy at most after the third killing and possibly before. All the others would not have had to die.
The Clintons have this one on them for it was He who established this ban.
Gun free zones are flocks of sheep that come to the conclusion they would be safer with no shepherd and no sheepdog.
Then there was Jeanne Assam in Arvada Colorado, who took down a perp in her church before he could inflict mayhem on hundreds of worshipers.
Was the Clackamas Mall CCW thing verified? I hadn’t heard.
I see.... take guns away from the decent people and only the bad ones will have guns..
What kind of mentality thinks this is logical?...
You must be a sick puppy to think this is logical.. or even compassionate..
Guns do not kill people, people kill people..
Like; murderers robbers muggers gangs care about some wazoo law..
News is still sketchy but all I know is it took 22 minutes to get on base at lunch yesterday and it didn’t happen here it was in DC.
If I complain I’d get “They’re just doing their job.”
My response would be, “What the f- - k have they been doing the rest of the year?” and I know where that would go.
Pendulum swing to over correct has started and will resolve nothing.
Latest:
Shooter did receive an honorable discharge.
Security Clearance is irrelevant.. you don’t need a clearance to work on base plus you have all the vendors, Exchange and McDonalds workers etc. They don’t have a clearance.
You don’t need a CAC card to get on base, you can get a visit request, a temporary pass etc and a government CAC holder can drive up to two people and all they have to do is have a photo ID.
How do you get a gun on base? Put it in the backseat or anywhere else. Random vehicle search “may” catch it. But unless they search every vehicle every time it won’t happen.
In the DC Navy Yard, the shooter could have rowed a boat over and hopped off.
Latest reports he had a shotgun only, shot the guards in the building and got their semi-automatic handguns, no AR-15 involved or found but it didn’t take long for the left to scream gun control.
I don’t give a fxck why he did it, he’s dead.
You can’t stop random acts of violence.. I’d like to meet with Dianne Feinstien shake her hand, introduce myself and then bitch slap her as hard as I can and simply say, “Wow, didn’t see that coming did you.” “Maybe you should outlaw hands.”
What ifs? Speculation here is that the Security Guard had a gun per the news accounts: What if the security guard at the entrance of the building actually was guarding the entrance, saw someone coming to the building with a shotgun.. that should have been a giveaway. Security Guard draws gun, shoots intruder, power wash the walkway and continue on. Security Guard with a gun keeps guard. It’s sad but day after day, checking ID’s and having friendly chit chat with the regular folks probably got him/them killed. Complacency....
My only wish is when one of these nut cases does this again, and they will, I hope they use the opportunity to take out some deserving individuals (there’s a ton of them out there) and make it worth while vice innocent people just doing their job or going to school.
Vigilance helps and so does situational awareness... I won’t walk around a store or sit in a restaurant with my back to the door and I also know who’s behind me and where the exits are.
Second nature nowadays.
Victim Zone bump.
I made me wonder why we didn't have ammo all the time.
As a medic, I used to pick up the body parts of GI's that were done in by other GI's fighting over booze and women, and there was some real logic by not arming young draftees in that situation.
Klintoon was the nit wit that made all military bases "gun free zones".
one military man in uniform, detailed to the viewers on one station how he ran away in fear... it was upsetting to see one of our military men speak this way.
I see.... take guns away from the decent people and only the bad ones will have guns..
What kind of mentality thinks this is logical?...
also add an increasingly oppressive government that, thru regulations and taxes causes more and more pressure on that unarmed society.
Yes it was verified. There were several fairly detailed reports of the story.
