“Why does the Tea Party seem to think that a “government shut-down” would NOT shut-down the GOP?”

First and foremost, there is NO such thing as a “Tea Party.” When you speak about the Tea Party, you are actually talking about the American people at large!

Second, this time around (not shutting down the government) defunding Obamacare is supported by the majority of Americans all across this Nation!

Third and finally, the government shuts down at 5:00 P.M. every day, and on Saturday and Sundays, including all holidays! The American people (Tea Party) helped the GOP (conservatives) take the US House in 2010 for the specific purpose of blocking and STOPPING Obama’s policies in their tracks! Every GOP candidate ran on the platform of “defunding Obamacare” and getting rid of the law. Now that they have a chance of de-funding the law, the GOPe is getting cold feet, attacking the conservatives within the party who are actively living up to their promises to the American people who elected them to office. The GOPe had better take notice of what happens to elected officials who do not listen to their constituency, exactly what happened in Colorado and two (2) socialist lost their jobs!

Ted Cruz, Rand Paul and Mike Lee are listening to the voice of the American people and are standing up to this out of control US Government by negotiating a budget deal that simply does not include the funding of Obamacare on behalf of the American people (Tea Party) PERIOD!!

Dear FRiend Potatochop,

First, I think of myself as a member of the Tea Party (”Taxed Enough Already”) patriots.

Second, I want to repeal ALL of Obamacare, as do a majority of Americans. That repeal would have happened ALREADY if Romney had been elected with coattails that also produced a Senate with a Republican majority. But it didn’t.

Third, I think that a majority of Americans does NOT want to shut down our government for a day, week, month, or however long it takes for Obama to beat our elected Representatives into submission to “the will of the majority” — you know, the same majority that does NOT want to shut down our government at all.

Fourth, a government shutdown will be much more painful than a 5PM whistle. As the “sequester” showed, our Chief Executive is determined to create AS MUCH PAIN AS POSSIBLE, isn’t he?

And even before that deliberately maximized pain is applied, most American citizens do NOT want a government shutdown:
(a) People who need their Social Security checks don’t. (b) Soldiers in Afghanistan whose families struggle to live within their military paychecks don’t.
(c) Veterans receiving medical care, don’t.
(d) Retirees living on interest from government bonds, don’t.
(e) Doctors and nurses who would not be paid, if government medical “reimbursements” stop, don’t.
(f) College students, tornado victimes, weather-persons?, judges, prison guards, border patrol, you-name-it, DON”T.

Fifth, isn’t this the same White House that said, “Never let a crisis go to waste!”? And doesn’t this White House NEED a crisis NOW to divert Americans from linking the worst presidency ever to corrupt Democrat candidates BEFORE the 2014 elections. BEFORE Democrats and Independents decide to vote Republican?

IMHO, the 2014 campaign has already started. Our media are already helping Obama spin the “rope” in his plan to “rope-a-dope” us Republicans. Obama knows that he can put the blame for causing a government shutdown on our “Tea Party” — if we just give him the chance.

Obama wants to make the 2014 election a referendum on “no-government-shut-downs”, where HE has the majority of Americans with him.

Obama does not want the 2014 election to be a referendum on Obamacare, Obamanomics, Obama-spying, Obama-cronyism etc. where REPUBLICANS have the majority.

So I say let’s NOT give Obama his heart’s desire. INSTEAD, let’s elect Republican majorities in both the House and the Senate in 2014. That is the best chance we have to repeal Obamacare.

How big must our majorities BE to override Obama’s threatened veto of repeal? THAT tells you how many seats we have to take. Let’s make our 2014 slogan “END OBAMACARE, VOTE GOP”!

Attempting to repeal Obamacare with only a majority in the House would be a little like trying to win the Battle of Midway without our dive-bombers.

The pilots of our torpedo planes were all brave patriots who did their best — but they died without damaging any Japanese carrier. Not any.

So please.

Let’s not SEEK a battle when we are at half strength and carry defective weapons...

Let’s not SEEK our own defeat...
