As a pimply faced teenage kid with a part-time job, going to the local bank to cash my check and gape at the beautiful, shapely twenty-something tellers in their slit skirts was generally the highlight of my week.
Yep, Tillie was so new and fun as I remember it! The optimism of youth, I guess.
I circulated in the Toco Hills/Brookhaven/Buckhead areas back then.
Hey, that’s right! Tho I don’t remember the exact words.
Grew up near Brookhaven, worked at Toco Hills, partied in Buckhead but used the Tillie machine at Northlake near the WSB tower.
Wait till he finds out about Supermarket scanners.
It’s just a prelude to all paper/coin money disappearing too.
Yowzers, the NSA even programed those robots at my bank to recognize me, call me by name, ask about my kids by name and sent sympathies for my sister’s hurt foot. Heck, they’re even programed to send a treat out to my dog.
Yeah and we got rid of telephone switchboard operators, the Railway Express Agency, and buggy whips. Oh the horror.
Received an electronic check from one of my clients who happens to bank at the same one I use for my business account. When I tried to deposit it through the ATM it was rejected because they were unable to read the banking info. Rest of checks, all written by hand and drawn on other banks, went through fine. I know there is money in their account because I do all their deposits for them and checked it myself on-line.
Called the bank about it - they indicated it seems to be an occasional problem for checks drawn on accounts at their bank and asked that I come by during banking hours and present it to one of their tellers. Sort of defeats the purpose.
Barry is actually right.
There are no bank tellers in all of his extra 7 states... 57 instead of 50.
What kind of kiosks? Are you talking about ATMs or remote tellers? The remote tellers — real teller, video connection — seem to be what’s growing around here (since there’s an ATM everywhere you look, anyway).
Of course, I can only speak to this... in the 57 states I have visited so far--
