In a sign he possibly needs to get out more, President Obama asserted in an interview broadcast Sunday that bank tellers had vanished from the face of the earth, saying their absence is an example of how the new economy has eliminated low-end jobs and heightened inequality.
Obama made the odd remark during an interview with ABC This Week host George Stephanopoulos.
“If you look at the data, a couple of things are creating these trends,” Obama said of the growing gap between the rich and the poor. ”Technology: if you go to a lot of companies now, they’ve eliminated entire occupations because they’re now robotized,” he said. “We don’t have travel agents. We don’t have bank tellers.”

I wonder if the tellers at my local bank know that they do not exist..
...and my travel agent is gong to be pi$$ed when he finds out he has been ‘elimintated’!

Personally, I like using the kiosks at my bank. Once you get used to them, you can transact business much more quickly. Easier to make deposits and get cash out.

moron! Let me tell you all something from first hand experience, an automated teller machine is anything but!
First of all, robotized? Did the supposed genius mean automated?
Secondly, I go to the CU about every other week to deposit a check (it's quicker than doing an electronic transfer for the funds being available). I deal with one of several tellers. And yes, I occasionally use a travel agent too!
