Tea Party Republicans flex muscle, put Boehner in tight spot as shutdown looms
FOX News ^ | Sept 12, 2013

John Boehner once again finds himself caught in the middle of a Capitol brawl between Tea Party Republicans and his Democratic counterparts, as he tries to navigate the choppy political waters and prevent a government shutdown at the end of the month.

Tea Party-aligned members of Boehner's caucus are flexing their muscle and pressuring him to allow a vote on an anti-ObamaCare measure as part of ongoing budget talks. They want the vote tied directly to the budget measure, and rejected a compromise plan earlier this week -- leaving unclear how Congress might pass a short-term spending bill before funding runs out on Sept. 30.

Boehner, after meeting with bipartisan congressional leaders on Thursday morning, offered no hint of what the next step might be. In the face of heated intra-party squabbling -- and even nastier accusations flying between Republican and Democrats -- he projected cool.

"There's all this speculation about these deadlines that are coming up. I'm well aware of the deadlines. So are my colleagues," he said. "And so we're working with our colleagues to work our way through these issues. I think there's a way to get there. ... There are a million options that are being discussed by a lot of people."

But Boehner realizes that the party's public image going into the 2014 elections could be at stake, with Democrats eager to pin the blame on them if Congress can't reach a budget deal and there's a partial shutdown. Lawmakers came within minutes of a shutdown during a budget fight in 2011, and have continued to pass a series of short-term measures -- leaving the prospect of a shutdown perpetually over the horizon.

The biggest sticking point centers on ObamaCare. House conservatives wanted to make sure the spending measure includes a provision to de-fund...

He’s plenty of time to sell us out on a lot of issues.

He’s far worse than useless. He’s dangerous. I gotta wonder if he’s some sort of deep cover asset for the Dems. He’s that bad.

What is lacking in today’s body politic is a philosophy that can be advanced BECAUSE of the veiled threats of doom by the opposition.

Without that “Damn the torpeodes! Full speed ahead!” philosophy, the meekest member of the opposition can turn us into sniveling, sobbing, cowards such as Boehner and McConnell.

For example, the manipulating, fear-mongering, threat of doom and gloom promoted by the supporters of Government harm to our Republic that a certain Republican action would “shutdown the Government” SHOULD be a clarion call for Republicans to shut down the Government to right the wrong that the Government is currently doing.

To not shut down the Government is to support continuation of the wrong that the Government is currently doing.

Whatever wrong is being protected by the supporters of Governmental wrong, SHOULD BE our signal that we should focus on undoing what they are trying to protect, deny, coverup or otherwise hide.

What is required to right the wrong is known to all Warriors: THE COURAGE OF ONE’S CONVICTIONS.

Instead, today in our sorry body politic, these are times of whimpering, timid, compromise-away-one’s-values in the false hope of achieving the equivalent of a 1960’s group hippie hug.

These are times when we wait silently for a larger than life, Warrior to swoop in on a white horse and make everything nicey-nice again.

These are times when the majority of people who vote choose politicians that promise pie-in-the-sky to them, and then these same politicians get put in charge of increasing the debt burden on our Grandchildren’s descendants.

Thus, we have a self-caused burden of a virtual cycle of debt to our descendants caused by promises that we choose to vote for.

These are the times when the obvious solution to these problems can be seen by “The Man in the Glass.”

BTW, read below the above quoted poem for suggestions to improve one’s response-ability.

The Man in the Glass

by Dale Wimbrow, (c) 1934
1895-1954

When you get what you want in your struggle for self,
And the world makes you King for a day,
Just go to the mirror and look at yourself,
And see what that man has to say.

For it isn’t your Father, or Mother, or Wife,
Whose judgment upon you must pass.
The fellow whose verdict counts most in your life
Is the man staring back from the glass.

You may be like Jack Horner and “chisel” a plum,
And think you’re a wonderful guy,
But the man in the glass says you’re only a bum
If you can’t look him straight in the eye.

He’s the fellow to please, never mind all the rest,
For he’s with you clear up to the end,
And you’ve passed your most dangerous, difficult test
If the man in the glass is your friend.

You may get what you want down the pathway of years,
And get pats on the back as you pass,
But your final reward will be heartaches and tears
If you’ve cheated the guy in the glass.

I think what has happened is, the GOP has offshored our momentum.

We have sold America, to foreigners. Who make more stuff all the time.

This has gone on now for nearly 30 years.

ENOUGH. Bring back American businesses, and protect them. Use American laws, to protect and defend American businesses.

The GOP is not doing itself any favors by supporting foreign manufacturing.

GOP bring American jobs home.

Now.

Boehner is crying because he can’t make deals with the democrats to keep his K street lobbyist buddies happy. He thought he had the tea party beat down when he & Cantor established committee chairmanships and other assignments to reliable beltway pols. He wasn’t prepared for the Tea Party Caucasus in the Congress or the rising of the grass roots movement outside of D.C. Now he’s in panic mode because “these tea party people are obstructing the way we’ve always done business around here and they just don’t understand how you get things done!”

The jackass Bohner is worried more about elections than he is about making a case. The American people are against Obamacare now and have been since it was shoved down our throats, the guy who wrote it says it is a train wreck, the Congress gave themselves a waiver, unions are about to get waivers, everyone who pays for healthcare is getting raped for an extra couple thousand dollars, people are losing coverages at their jobs, their spouses are being kicked off thier coverage if they get to keep it,others are having hours cut or losing their jobs all together, and Boner head can’t make a case, won’t even attempt to articulate one. What a FREAKIN waste, what the hell are republicans going to run on? We did not shut the government down? I don’t give a crap, what did you do?
