Republicans move to halt ObamaCare 'bailout' for angry unions
FoxNews.com ^ | 9/12/2013

Capitol Hill Republicans are trying to stop the Obama administration from offering labor unions a sweetheart deal on ObamaCare, as the White House tries to quell a simmering rebellion from Big Labor over the health care law.

President Obama and White House officials reportedly have called union leaders to try and persuade them to tone down their complaints, pledging an accommodation. The AFL-CIO, though, on Wednesday approved a resolution anyway calling the law "highly disruptive" to union plans.

But reports have surfaced on a plan that would give union workers -- and only union workers -- subsidies to help pay for health insurance even if they're covered through their job. The purported "carve-out" could soothe the simmering discontent within Big Labor. The loyal Democratic supporters and early champions of ObamaCare say they have been slighted by the act’s final regulations, which they say is pushing some employees into part-time work and threatens their health insurance plans.

At least three congressional Republicans are trying to stop any effort to give the unions special treatment, which could cost $200 billion over 10 years.

It seems that it’s such a great plan, everyone wants out of it, Congress first.

So blatantly unconstitutional that it doesn't even merit discussion.

I would like to see exemptions voided for all organizations and congress. The law should apply to everyone equally. Congress should not be able to pass laws they dont have to follow.

What is lacking in today’s body politic is a philosophy that can be advanced BECAUSE of the veiled threats of doom by the opposition.

Without that “Damn the torpeodes! Full speed ahead!” philosophy, the meekest member of the opposition can turn us into sniveling, sobbing, cowards such as Boehner and McConnell.

For example, the manipulating, fear-mongering, threat of doom and gloom promoted by the supporters of Government harm to our Republic that a certain Republican action would “shutdown the Government” SHOULD be a clarion call for Republicans to shut down the Government to right the wrong that the Government is currently doing.

To not shut down the Government is to support continuation of the wrong that the Government is currently doing.

Whatever wrong is being protected by the supporters of Governmental wrong, SHOULD BE our signal that we should focus on undoing what they are trying to protect.

What is required to right the wrong is known to all Warriors: THE COURAGE OF ONE’S CONVICTIONS.

Instead, today in our sorry body politic, these are times of whimpering, timid, compromise-away-one’s-values in the false hope of achieving the equivalent of a 1960’s group hippie hug.

These are times when we wait silently for a larger than life, Warrior to swoop in on a white horse and make everything nicey-nice again.

These are times when the majority of people who vote choose politicians that promise pie-in-the-sky to them, and then these same politicians get put in charge of increasing the debt burden on our Grandchildren’s descendants.

Thus, we have a self-caused burden of a virtual cycle of debt to our descendants caused by promises that we choose to vote for.

These are the times when the obvious solution to these problems can be seen by “The Man in the Glass.”

BTW, read below the above quoted poem for suggestions to improve one’s response-ability.

The Man in the Glass

by Dale Wimbrow, (c) 1934
1895-1954

When you get what you want in your struggle for self,
And the world makes you King for a day,
Just go to the mirror and look at yourself,
And see what that man has to say.

For it isn’t your Father, or Mother, or Wife,
Whose judgment upon you must pass.
The fellow whose verdict counts most in your life
Is the man staring back from the glass.

You may be like Jack Horner and “chisel” a plum,
And think you’re a wonderful guy,
But the man in the glass says you’re only a bum
If you can’t look him straight in the eye.

He’s the fellow to please, never mind all the rest,
For he’s with you clear up to the end,
And you’ve passed your most dangerous, difficult test
If the man in the glass is your friend.

You may get what you want down the pathway of years,
And get pats on the back as you pass,
But your final reward will be heartaches and tears
If you’ve cheated the guy in the glass.

So they want to use more of my tax dollars to help the union employees pay for their health insurance? But it from the federal government, so it is really just “free” to them, right? UGGGH

If you are poor and your state has not expanded medicare, you are SOL. If you’re poor and your state has expanded medicaid and you qualify, good luck finding a doctor that will take medicaid.

If obamascare is considered a tax by the SCOTUS, how is it legal to allow exceptions? Shouldn’t EVERYBODY be subject to this law - including members of congress and their staffs?

Several cases pending. But our “conservative” advocate Roberts will probably shoot them all down.
