new United Nations report asserts that both sides in the Syrian civil war have committed grave crimes in violation of international law.
Government forces continue to attack civilian populations in what amounts to crimes against humanity, says the report, released Wednesday by the U.N. Human Rights Council.
But anti-government groups, in their fight against President Bashar al-Assad, have themselves committed war crimes, including murder, torture and hostage-taking, the report states.

At least under Assad the Aramaic-speaking Christians in the ancient city of Maaloula were allowed to exist in peace.
Syria is a good reminder that war is Hell. We’ve been lucky enough to fight war on our terms. In a lot of places, combatants to whatever is necessary to win without regard to UN resolutions or other societal norms. Is it wrong to gas people? Yes. Does it work? Many times, yes.

They spent how much concluding something that anyone with half a brain has known all along? There are no good guys in this fight.
I'm inclined to root for Assad. I feel badly for the Egyptian people, and the mess our administration has made over there. The more of the MB rebels Assad kills, the fewer there will be to cause trouble somewhere else.

Like I said, there are no good guys in this fight. Assad is as loathsome in his own way as the rebels are in their’s. We should be having nothing to do with any of them.
They probably are all guilty of war crimes. We need to stay out of it and may the best Muzzie win.
